I didn't have an appointment and I didn't have to wait long. However, the person that was " working" with me was so nasty. Extremely unhelpful and condescending. Refusing to answer questions directly and taking a half hour to give me a form for a replacement social security card and documentation stating my award letter. Absolutely uncalled for. His behavior was unwarranted and undeserved. I can't speak for the rest of the staff but this guy, he was a real prize let's just say that

Went there to apply for my SSN for the first time. I was born in USA but have lived in Canada my whole life so it was a unique situation. The guard at the door was super friendly and helpful, and the gentleman I spoke to at the office named John was a huge help, very patient and understanding . although I was missing paperwork and couldn’t complete the application the same day I was guided in the proper direction.

I don't recommend calling.

Is there an office in Amherst NY?
can you make appt to come in? If yes how no one answers the phone!
Yes you can
I would like to make an appointment
I believe you can apply 6 months before your 66th Birthday,,,not absolutely sure though
Go to Google and look up SS and WS is usually the 3rd one down. They have a call icon, click on that and you'll be calling WS office.
Hi Karen. You should get the award letter from your school or University where are attending before you go to the Social Security Office to get any document.
Call them
It would be best to call the number listed. They stopped making appointments for a lot of things. I would assume you could make one but the hotline would know best.
Something that verifies your mailing/physical address, a health record or something that verifies you attend a health care facility... (those were things that were asked of me) Good luck
there offices are not open for in person right now. You got to call them.
Not opened yet. Called yesterday they said they might be open in April. Everything is done either, online, over the phone or email
It's not open for in person. They all work from home. Get what you need online and email it or mail to West Seneca or Buffalo office
From what I understand you can still get SS and work, with no penalty. You will still need to file your W2. Working still before 66 years, there maybe penalties if you earn above a certain amount.,
Yes they do, call there West seneca office number not 800 number. You will be asked to leave message. They told me to come there very early morning and wait. This was a great idea they got me in within 15 minutes both time I went... Tom T
2 forms of I'd state issued I'd an birth certificate
Original document proving name change ie marriage certificate, divorce decree and a valid photo ID such as license or passport. Fill out ss5 form ahead of time to make it quicker and easier
Yes and they are pretty fast compared to other offices.
Bring any ID like drivers license, passport, birth certificate, and any supporting documentation for what you are wanting to accomplish.
What do I need to get a copy of my ss card
Nope, they do everything there and send you on your way with your paperwork. Just make sure you have the origionals... they don't keep them.
Origional birth certificate and marriage certificate, your social security number and possibly your existing photo ID (I can't remember if they wanted that or not)
According to their website, not yet in New York State. But you can do it through the mail. You have to send original IDs though, so pick things you don't need everyday to send.
Call social security and they will tell you . I did. But be warned you may.be on hold up to an hour. Just put my speaker on and did what I wanted till they picked up
