It’s a shelter - you can make what you want of the situation - free food - free board w/ stipulations- staff was great - like I said _ you can make what you want of the situation

I usually collect clothes, shoes, books and kids toys I keep a storage for this purpose, and have been doing this for 25 years and giving out these things around the world but with no European country's in site due to the virus and political conflicts I was now over stock with winter items so I decided to drive from NYC to NC and give them out there. A lot of people including myself think the it's a tropical paradise in the south not realizing the weather can be extremely cold that's one of the reasons I decided to go there. I visited the women and Men shelter it was a very successfully give away.

I’ve been completely humble and appreciative for Roof Above and all of its resources that they have been offering. I understand how partnerships work but this is ridiculous. First I want to say thank you for there being a place to go when times are hard. But if programs like roof above in which at first it seemed like they really are a great and positive program and I believe in the mission but I’m always trying to make sure to be my best self. My Roof Above Experience Referred by :Salvation Army - The front desk attendant advised me to go to the Tryon Shelter. (1210 N. Tryon St.). - The Mens Tryon Center referred me to their Emergency Mens Shelter which led me to Howard Levine Men’s Shelter (3406 Statesville Ave). -Howard Levine Men’s Shelter advised me to go next door for overnight bed stay. (Lucile Guiles Center) I’ve been here nearly 3 weeks and I keep hearing don’t give up be patient. But to stay in an overnight shelter when there’s: - 4-5 sinks out of 8 that don’t work. - 3 out of 5 toilet partitions (stalls) inoperable - 3 urinals also out of order - Rude (and I mean rude) building officials - I have even volunteered myself on several occasions to help clean up area and still get treated the same way. - Extreme case of high amounts of dust falling from the ceiling. - Several times not even sheets were available for us to sleep with. Until I actually did some research to assist in helping reduce risks of heat strokes from myself and others who also stay here and are trying to move up in the program who actually are trying to work and not stay on the street are being “guilty by associated characters”. The straw that broke the camels back, was I got off work late, I’m a bartender so yes we get off late nights. I get here between 1am -1:30am to at least take a nap since we are forced to leave at 7am. I was told I couldn’t come in because beds are full which I knew was a lie. I was told if you talk to them about work then they will work with you, NOT TRUE! So I’m outside now writing this email because this type of service needs to come to a halt. I just hope Rolf above is not associated with this because I really do love the service I get from urban ministry, but when your rebuilding and starting over; it can feel like the world is against you already.

This place ain't for kids. I would suggest Job Corps for the young man!!
No you have to pay for a bed and sometimes they will give you a mat l had some one try to sell me mat
You can always make clothing donations. Call for instructions.
Not right now.
It goes by lottery, will have to call 211 mon thru fri 8am . however if the temp hits below. 39 degrees I think they accommodate.
You get a personal locker
You won't. Best to call Charlotte 211 and do an intake over the phone to get on the waiting list.
I think your looking for shelters in Va this is Nc
Report to 3410 N Tryon st, which is the main campus, the process should start their.... you'll be ok

Good evening James, if you haven't already done so....you and your brother in law, should be at the Tryon shelter, between the hours of 8-9 am, this starts the intake process
