It was a nice campground but too noisy for us. There were four wheelers speeding through the campground until about 2 in the morning and then they started back up again at 5:30 in the morning.

This campground has really improved over the last year. Very modern now with new bathrooms.

River was extremely high, unusual for this time of year, but was nice watching the force of the rapids. They added onto the camp sites making it a nice place for tent camping and rv camping. Really nice bathroom too. Only negative is there is no full hook ups 😞

Horse camp Would be a 5 star but no access to a safe river crossing......Why can't we cross the railroad bridge? If the ground is contaminated then build a camp ground for horses where the DNR building is.....6 sites would be fine in that yard???We would love to be able to use the bridge also. Unfortunately it is out of the city's hands. The DNR has jurisdiction over the bridge and also owns the DNR building area. The city does not have the authority to override the DNR's trail closing, nor can we build a campground on the DNR's land. The DNR is working on a plan to clean up the contamination, and the city supports every effort for them to get it cleaned up and available for public use. We encourage citizens and local residents to contact the DNR, to let them know how important the trail is to the area.

The water falls are located within the RV campground, and there are no horse trails through that park. But the horse campground is just across the highway, next to the beginning of the falls, and you can hear and see parts of it from the campground. You could actually ride horse on the short gravel road on the north side of the falls to the DNR boat access, but there would be vehicle traffic possible.
