We used Home Depot to find a contractor to install a wooden fence for us and I wish we would have just taken the time to find one ourselves. We went through Home Depot because we thought that they would vet the people they use beforehand, but the company that ended up installing our fence was completely awful. Long story short, the contractors destroyed our yard, didn’t finish the work, and stop taking our calls/texts. When the contractors stopped taking our calls, we tried reaching out to Home Depot to try to get some sort of remediation or some sort of refund (we ended up having to spending an additional $2,000 on top of the $5,000 already spent on the fence between wages lost, time spent, and resources paid for) and was told by Home Depot that there was nothing they could do. I talked to lady (I believe her name was Carrie and she was amazing!) at the location Home Depot store who ended up refunding us $100 (that was the max amount the system would let her do). All-in-all, between trying to get in touch with the contractors and constantly trying to talk to someone at Home Depot, my time would have been better spent researching and vetting contractors on my own.
