Do not send your loved ones to this facility. It looks nice and I was incredibly encouraged. I paid in advance for my mother to live here. I paid for six weeks of living expenses. My mother died within 12 hours of moving to this facility. Alan told me there would be a refund of some sort. Today, he told me there might be a bill coming instead of a refund. That’s just the beginning of my complaints about this facility. I’ll be happy to reconsider or just stay quiet if the refund I was promised is ultimately provided, as it should be. But anyone considering this facility should look elsewhere. In the 12 short hours my mother was here, there were numerous concerns raised. I was overwhelmed by how unprepared this facility and its staff were for simple intake procedures. My mother sat unattended and in pain for almost 4 hours until I was able to get there after work. I found her gasping for air in a soaked diaper and experiencing Level 10 pain. No one knew that though, because no one cared to even check on her during that time even though everyone knew she was brand new to facility and she had stage IV lung cancer. Lisa, the nurse manager, recommended a particular hospice. Both she and the hospice promised my mother‘s medications would be there. They weren’t there. Nothing they promised was there. I wasn’t able to be there when my mother was transferred because I was working. Everyone knew that. If something had happened and I wasn’t able to get there at all that day, my mother would’ve suffered in level 10 pain until she died. Luckily I was able to get there. I had to go to the pharmacy and pick up all of her meds. That took over an hour. While I was waiting at the pharmacy, a courier picked up ONE of her meds and left all the others but no one told me. So, Helena Place could’ve had a courier pick up her meds the entire time. Instead, they sent some kid to pick up just one of her many medications and never told me about it. So I needlessly lost precious time with my mom for no good reason. As if this isn’t enough- I saw just one meal Helena Place gave my mother. It looks like a scoop of dog food on a lettuce leaf. Be very careful where you send your loved ones. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Our mother has been residing at Helena Place for almost 8 months now. She is 99 years young and had always lived independently with minimal daily home care. She reached the physical stage where she needed more assistance. Helena Place was the answer; they welcomed her with open arms. They embraced her independence while showing her she definitely could learn a new way of living. They have cared for Mom with kindness and respect. During these very difficult “covid times,” the staff at Helena Place has protected and tended to Mother’s comfort with compassion and thoughtfulness. They are always open to discussion and readily respond to any and all questions and/or concerns we may have. We are delighted to have found the perfect fit for our dear mother at Helena Place.

When my father passed, mother was in a bad way. We tried to keep her at home but I was extremely stressed. My husband went to Helena Place to see if my Mother could go there. They immediately made accommodations to see her and in just a few days we set her up in her own room. We all came to love and appreciate the staff. Mother became friends with some of the other residents. We moved for my husband’s job. With COVID I wanted Mother closer. We moved her upstate in another Assisted Living. There I learned how much more of a family Helena Place was. We have moved Mother back and we too have returned to the area. You cannot ask for more attentive, friendly, and kind people. Mother is doing so much better since she has returned to Helena Place and with the COVID they keep me up to date on all her health issues and activities, which was not the norm at the other assisted living in the upstate. Thank you Helena Place for making my 91 year old mother happy and feel comfortable. ❤️

Went to support meeting, which is what I gave 3 stars to; the facility itself appeared clean and professional.
