This "trail" is access for boy scout camp. Just a big flat area. As I have seen it's high school party place. Pack your stuff with you. No garbage cans SO PICK UP YOUR MESS. limited beach access trail uphill all the way. Use the east beach much better for families. I had the keys to all my stuff stolen here. Do not recommend.

Beautiful location got family pictures taken there.

I enjoy this hike multiple times a year. I've only made it all the way to to the other end and back one time, but it was a memorable hike id recommend to any one with a little sense of adventure. There are a few parts that could come into question for some. But there are always other ways around, and if all else fails the canal road can be reached for a safe journey back.

Great walking location, but no bathrooms or trash cans. Please pick up your trash!

I not sure why. Maybe because the land is owned by the Samis Foundation and not the state. You can google Sam Israel, Samis Foundation for more information. The land was purchased and developed primarily for use by Boy Scouts of America, but is open to public access (walk-in only) year around.
