The initial path is quite steep. The path was also not recently bushwhacked. It's okay if you're in your 20s but being the old fogeys we are, my husband and I just turned around and went back to our car.

Moderately challenging hike with several ramifications for different scenery. Trails somewhat overgrown during this review. No time to reach the lake during this visit, but feeder streams were seen. Trailways marked with signage in good repair. Unpaved parking lot for around seven cars.

My family and I love this park. It is very clean and spacious for the little ones to run, skate and ride bicycles. It has grills for BBQ and a playground.

Make sure to keep a pic of the map on you. The trails are clearly marked and blazed but lots of intersections and shortcuts that could come in handy. The YELLOW (a multi-purpose trail) offers a fairly challenging uphill to the top of the mountain then starts to drop off as you head towards the lake. The BLUE is a great hiking trail with less ticks, more rocks & boulders, and ONLY for on foot hiking. The YELLOW could also be a challenging and exhilarating MTB ride, just watch out for wet downed trees across the trails in certain spots. WARNINGS: -The YELLOW gets very muddy easily, so stay away after it rains unless you have waterproof boots and like mud. -There are many unavoidable prickly branches and bushes with ticks in certain areas; particularly (if entering from the parking lot) from where the YELLOW trail first intersects the BLUE all the way down to the next intersection at the bottom of the lake. Just went on march 19th and found a few ticks on my legs and hips every 20min.
