Got two dogs here they train them and try to match them with appropriate homes. Right now they are doing appointments only and an application process

Called the shelter with my mom. The older lady who picked up had no compassion that our dog had recently passed away and we were looking for a new dog to help ease the pain. She then started to ask my mom if she is a couch potato and we were confusing her as to whether we wanted a small dog or medium dog. Who cares we are looking for a dog !! Exercise some professionalism when dealing with a shelter and people calling asking to see a variety of dogs and trying to get them a home. That lady should switch places with the dogs and be in the cage and give those wonderful dogs a home !!

They were very friendly to the disabled individuals that I brought with me to drop off shredded paper. They do excellent work to help animals!

As long as you live in the town of north homestead you can surrender the dog there
Yes first you viisit then you adopt but keep in mind to adopt it is first come first serve.
You can see the dogs, a volunteer will take you around. If you choose a dog they will let you meet face to face but regulations say the shelter staff must be in control of dog until it is adopted
if you are in town of North Hempstead, you could call them. otherwise call your town, they will be able to assist you.
Yes you can. Call the shelter about age
Call ASPCA
THEY DO NOT AND WILL NOT KILL AMY DOGS AND CATS!!This place is the best
They don't sell dogs. They offer dogs that have been surrendered or found as strays for adoption. It is a $57 fee. Because of the way they get their dogs they don't usually have puppies or pure breeds. Most are pit mixes. Your best bet is to visit to see what they currently have.
If you live in the town and you need to surrender the dog. He will be well taken care of. I volunteer there an the dogs get worked with and they make sure they find good homes
No they actually have a really good adoption rate and are under capacity. Plus there is a nature trail, a yard with agilty equipment and a real life room where they learn how to behave in a home.
Where do you live?
Yes. They do training once a year usually in May /June. This is for what is know as adoption advising. No dog handling. Just greeting people when they come in and showing them the dogs. Sometimes helping out with other clerical or organizational stuff. Further training needed to do dog handling.
If you live in the town of north hempstead you can surrender a dog.
Since it is a town shelter it generally only takes dogs from the town. However, through the volunteer org the shelter took in a few dogs from a private shelter, that needed to make room fir harvey dogs
