I was super upset yesterday with SS office. I was hung up on twice & I suspect it was the same gentleman I had each time. On the third call, I didn't get hung up on but put on hold for at least 10mins & then told he could not locate my paperwork, paperwork sent two weeks ago!! I was trying to conduct business & yet I feel i received POOR service. New update: I am having the worse time with this place. Now, the issue is I can't get anyone on the line. I have sat on this phone for at least 20-30 mins and no response. I have to work and I am calling between my breaks, lunch, training, etc. Some things I cannot go online to handle. There has to be a better solution because I can't visit the office during their office hours so I have to call.

I moved to Alabama with my child who is disabled from New Jersey. I received her benefits for 2 months when we 1st moved & then they stopped because they said I had to prove that my daughter lives with me. Mind you they had her new school, our address, her new doctors who actually treated her & they stopped her benefits almost a year because COVID came & they claimed they never received her paperwork. All they kept doing was mailing me paperwork to fill out & I would send it right back & even went to the office to drop it off. Finally received her benefits but won't give the back pay. They owe her 9,000. They keep saying they are going to release the funds but never did. They wrote me & said open her own account & I did & still nothing.

They make people feel like a criminal. This place is horrible. From the man at the front to the window woman you see. Wait times are crazy and no one is nice.

Super good great attention

First come first serve, there was never bed bugs good try though.
I think you can if your parent with an I.d. comes
Question for the V.A.
Yes
They have a program down there that will compensate you if your aunt is getting Medicaid and you take care of her. You have to call your local Medicaid office
No. Even though it's money you have paid in during employment, it's income for retirement or disability. If you have a 401k account through your job, you can take out a loan against it, but has to be for something major, like medical emer., or schooling, etc.
Retiring at 65 (18 months before full retirement age[FRA]) will result in a reduction in your benefit forever. If your FRA benefit is $1000 per month, you will receive approximately $888 per month. Go to SSA.gov to verify. If possible, wait until FRA to start claiming SS benefits.
No
Only thing I can think of, is call Extra Help, & it's only to help with medications. They have to make below a certain amount to qualify. You call call Huntsville Utilities, & see about help with getting their home more insulated or lower bills.
Yes but the dept who does it name is gov. Simplified n all they do is send you a form that is filled out by you and charge 37.00 dollars for this mess....N give u a USPS label to mail it along with ur driver license n social security card... no copies
Insurance card, statement of coverage from insurance company, pay stub or letter from employer showing deductions of premiums or that t h e company is paying for it fully.
Yes it is however you do have to wear a mask. Once you check in at kiosk, they'll call according to numbers..
By appointment only. Need to call them first
You will need to call and make an appointment.
No. You have to call and schedule on appointment for walk in first. If you're pressing for time... You have to contact them via phone. Everything is done via phone now.
They are only allowing you to drop off your info to be processed at the moment, then they'll mail your info back certified mail.
Appointment only
Scam
You have to call and make an appointment.
No it's not on the door
Sorry, I really don't know! I can tell you, I am on SSI & I can't work or have anything of value over 2,000$
Nobody knows. Most stuff can be handled online or over the phone.
No! You must call ahead and discuss your issue before an appointment is granted.
They are not open you have to call or go online
I like $10 for a replacement
Mail in your printed off application with the required proof I believe. Calling and making sure what you need would help. Also the actual place is closed. So only call ins.
No. No. Absolutely- No.. I'd contact office directly. And supply them with the numbers calling you-even.
How do you make an appointment at the Huntsville location?
I don't think so.
U must missed the call
A person can be entitled on their own AND someone else's record. It depends on several factors. The best thing to do is to come into your local office or call us and we can give you better information. By the way, I am a worker at SSA. Just come into the office and we will look at all the factors.
Yes, as long as it is government-issued and unexpired.
The Social Security administration will never call you about "closing" your number. This is most likely a scam. Please do not EVER give personal or bank account information to someone who calls you.
I would check with the social security office and inquire about SSI benefits to see if your eligible or check with DHR to see if the state can assist you.
SSA.GOV
Your birth certificate and ID
You can request it online Also mine was not with me when I got his but he had signed paperwork
A replacement Social Security card is free. Just come into your local office with a valid unexpired ID and we will get you one ordered.
Birth certificate. N something else to prove you are you. Like w 2 n tax return.
Really all you need is your birth certificate and your information to get a replacement i went recently and all they ask me was for my birth certificate and some personal info but i guess every state is different also
December 2018
Your ssi administrator
Yes this is what i know u can u have to have doctors to give u papers staten that she is diagnosed with it and what meds shes on my 9 year old is adhd and odd and seperation anxiety and other things hes going to psychiatric help and on meds. And ehen he gets bk from the doctors im going to get his check started so yea
My son's dad is not on his birth certificate but my son gets a portion of his benefits. My child support worker found out and I applied and started receiving benefits. If you receive child support your case worker can help you start the process.
If they do not live to the last day the social security office will pull it back out of his account. Yes you need to notify them and he will get a death benefit check. I think it is like $255
You can make appointment online
No but it will be a long wait otherwise. We got there 30 minutes before they open at 9am. We were still 6th to be seen. By 9 am it was an estimated hour plus wait
Depends why they turned it off
First go to S.S Office in your área and make an appointment, second fill out an eligibility application for S.S.I, and finally bring the required documents and they will contact you to inform you of your eligibility.
They accept walkins
No. But they do close the office at 12:00 on Wednesday.
You need a copy of your divorce papers, a copy of his death certificate, & and you might need a copy of his birth cert, and possibly a copy of marriage license and his social security number. You will have to go to the SS office to apply. You will also need your photo id. If you are married, right now, I don't think you will qualify. If you are drawing SS, you will only be able to draw one check, & that will be the the largest amount.
Don't I wish. As my husband draws SS, & I receive Social Security Disability. Unfortunately, unless you pass away, and if your ss income ck is more then her ck, she will only receive the income that is the larger amount, not both ss incomes, not even half of the other persons ss income. Unfortunately for all of us drawing SS, even being married, surviving person is only allowed to receive one income only from social security. My Stepdad passed away last year, so when I took my Mom to report his death, it turned out that my real Dad had made more money than my Stepdad, so my Mother is now receiving her ex-husband ss. She no longer gets her SS, but fortunately my Stepdad retired from a great job, & when he retired he received a ck each month, so now my Mom is now receiving his monthly retirement check. Thank goodness for that extra income, bc Social Security income is not enough for a person to live on, expecially after medicare is deducted from the SS.
Yes, it's true..
Are you on Disability or 65 yr old? If you are under 65 u will not be on Medicare yet. If u are drawing disability, and you are covered by a spouse or partners healthcare plan through their employment u will not be on Medicare either. I was 53 yrs old when I started drawing disability, but bc my husband was still employed, he had to put me on his healthcare plan. 2 yrs ago when he retired & started drawing social security he was only 62, & not old enough for Medicare, so we had to find him an individual health plan, but bc I am disabled, & no longer covered by his insur, I had to call SS office & was put on Medicare. My husband is turing 65 next wk, so he is now on Medicare. Hope this helps answer ur question. Best of luck.
Yes but the dept who does it name is gov. Simplified n all they do is send you a form that is filled out by you and charge 37.00 dollars for this mess....N give u a USPS label to mail it along with ur driver license n social security card... no copies
Ralph haling I am 58 years old
You definitely have to have their birth certificates, that will prove you're the father, plus you will need id, like drivers license.
You can do that by going online to ssa.gov and set up a personal account.
Sorry for your loss. You need to take a copy of her death certificate & probably your marriage cert, & if you have a copy of her birth cert, that will help also. You can call to see if you need to bring anything else, & maybe be able to set up appt. You can also just take the info with you & do a walk in, where you enter your info, & a number will be issued & you can wait to be seen. They are open from 9:00/4:00 during the wk, except they close @ 12;00 on Wed.
You can walk in. But you will need your drivers license, probably birth certificate, & marriage license or something to show why you are changing your name.
They are open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00pm, except on Wednesday, they close at 12:00
You need to go to the website: SSA.gov to set up a account. There you will see what you have earned each year that you have worked. Your check from SSA is determined on your earnings over the last 3 quarters reported to SSA. You can apply for SS on this website. You might also consider having Fed Tax taken out of your SS if also. This website should help with most of your questions. You can also go to the local SS office to apply, there you will type in your info on a check in device, which will give you a number that will be listed on a screen where you wait to see a person who will be assigned to help you apply & can answer any questions you have.
You will have to contact SSA, by phone if you are having trouble on the website, especially if you have forgotten your pass code that you got when you first set up account.
