Breakfast on week days isn't as crowded which is comforting during Covid.. However the specials such as shrimp and grits or huevos rancheros are available only on weekends. Biggest disappointment was the espresso machine had surrendered to age several weeks ago so no steamed hot drinks available until the espresso machine from the Amherst is moved to Northampton. Quite a disappointment when the outside temperature is only 9 above. Staff attitude remains cheerful. Downtown Scramble is great. Hash is different each day. Today's mixture was corned beef, pork belly and ground beef. Needed a bit of hot sauce. Jakes is an old standby that has survived Covid. A good breakfast place. Update. - brought family for Labor Day brunch. Jake's doesn't accept reservations and when we arrived found a 1-1/2 hour wait. The family matriarch is 81 years young, but cannot stand for extended periods. Staff rudely refused to provide a chair for the wait. Stated they were a small place so wouldn't take up space for a chair. Not very accomodating.

The food was so yummy and the staff very friendly. The lunch menu was just as good as the breakfast! Will definitely come back when back in town.
