Always a good time, just wish they had roof and spotting scopes like some other ranges I've been too.

Needs more than one Range officer on a weekend, when there are too many knuckleheads there.
Claire Voyant
Great set up but the staffing leaves alot to be desired. The RSO on the weekends is a safety officer in name only. I've never seen any officer care less about their job or the safety and well being of the patrons. He never checks to see if there are guns on the table, he just says "every one good"? And then says "ok go to your targets" when if he just looked with his eyes he'd see most people aren't following orders. The last straw for me was when he called live fire when there were people clearly down range. I know people should be following and know the safety rules but most don't and that's EXACTLY why we have RSOs. I end up doing his job every time I go. And the guy in the green jeep always seems to have a terrible attitude no matter how nice I am. Occasionally I'll see a younger gentleman working the booth and he's always super nice. It would be perfect if the safety and attitudes were adjusted. *Update 8-14-22* "Safety" officer just called live fire again while someone was downrange. OPEN YOUR EYES PAL

Love this place. RO is easy go but keeps it safe. The other shooters are always friendly and I've seen many newbies come down and find people willing to help. Best range in Suffolk by far.

Yes you can
Yes but you are responsible for him. Before you go talk about gun safety Always keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction Always keep your finger off the trigger until your ready to shoot Always keep the gun unloaded until your ready to shoot Unpack & pack up all gun cases at the line only Be safe and have fun👍
As of this date, no they do not.
They do not on a day to day basis (although range officers will help you if they have the time), but third party classes are often held at this range.
12 in new york but as long as it's safe no one cares
There is a back range, call the main number and contact Harry for more information
Maybe not at the clay targets. Mut you can shoot targets with any load
Yes
No
Grey area non in NY I still wouldn't get caught with one
12 my daughter is 12 and shoots 22 to 12 gauge. It's all about safety
Yes they have a separate area for shotguns however if you want to shoot close range like home defense practice bring your own stand and target. And be prepared to take it back with you when you are done I personally bring wood pallets and stack them. Some people bring wooden stakes and hammer them into the ground. They do have stationary target stands at the back of the shotgun range back stop but for me that's only good if you are running slugs since they are pretty far away
It depends on what weapon you would like to shoot. They have a Skeet range, pistol and shotgun range and then rifle (50yrds-200yrds). Bags and all safety equipment such as ear plugs, cans and eye protection. $20 cash entry at front booth when you drive in.
Slugs for target, bird shot in the clays pit.
Most minimum at ranges is 12 for small caliber rifles.
Check their website
You must bring your own firearms. ....also keep in mind you must hold a NY state handgun permit to handle handguns in nys. You can shoot someone else's rifle though.
Hours are seasonal check their website
There is no secretary to answer the phone. The recording is there to give you the information you need on hours and directions. What is your question
You can draw from a holster but there are no range bays. Everyone shoots at the same long table
Calverton does not offer lesson but there are many companies in suffolk that offer them. I give you credit for looking into gun safety, I wish more people would do the same. Check out the web for some local firearms schools, lots of great guys out there. Good luck and be safe
Just paper targets, and silhouettes are ok
After going today and telling the man in green jeep I was going to shoot trap and then shoot a rifle I was told that there was going to be two separate fees. The fees would have been $25 for trap and $20 for rifle. I only shoot trap bc I didn't have enough money on me at the time.
With parent supervision yes
No come on down and shoot
I do not know. Call the range directly, a person answers, not a machine.
I do not know but you can call them up.
Yes they are. We called one day when it was pouring out as asked if they were open, the answer we got "yes come out were lonely!" They even let us bring a 10x10 pop up tent
You will have to pay two entrance fees but you can definitely share the rifle
Their website says yes
Its not a shop, its a trailer where they sell ammo. Not sure of the prices, always went with my ammo
I Don't know.....Get the phone number and call up. I am a customer.
Hi Patrick We love this place. You pay 18 to enter and you can stay all day if you want. There is a hot dog truck but I suggest packing a lunch if you plan on staying the day. They do sell ammo (usually ) but you will pay extra for the convenience. Bring your targets and staple gun. They have tables and chairs. The owner who takes your money is a grouch but Rich is a sweetheart. There's 2 areas one for shotguns and rifles and another for hand guns. Skeet shooting is available at a separate price. Very laid back range without the aggravation, attitude or control freaks at other ranges. Have fun !!
It depends on the season. Go to their website they will tell you everything.
