Incredible food, kind and dedicated staff, a little slow but totally worth it

Experience 5, value 5, offerings 5. Food is great. Big portions. Lamb stole the show. 4 entrees for 4 people was PLENTY!

Best Ethiopian in New York City

I usually only write reviews to boost places I like, but I was so disappointed that I wanted to save others from my bad experience. Plus: waitstaff was very nice Everything else: -buticha was a dry flavorless crumble. -Kitfo was entirely cooked though we ordered raw and the staff assured us it was though it was cooked to not a trace of pink (see photo) -all other items on the vegi combo were either watery or just bland. Generally unimpressive -injera had stale ends so stiff they needed to be snapped off. Also it didn’t feel or taste like there was any teff at all in the dough. Seemed like 100% wheat flour. -the place is cute and small, but really cramped and super loud during the dinner hour -we watched several people who ordered significantly after us get food before we finally got ours. I don’t believe any of this lack of quality was personal. We had a nice interaction with the server on the way in. She forgot our drinks and we were super nice about it when we reminded her ten minutes in. If you have ever had good Ethiopian food in DC, Baltimore, Minneapolis, San Francisco, etcetera, you will not be be satisfied with the experience here.

No reservations as of today unfortunately
I have only eaten there once, and did not ask that question.
Why not ask the restaurant?
