Hands down my favorite mountain in the Tahoe area. It might not be the most "modern" or have the most terrain, but the vibe and the view are second to none. Love the glades off the Homewood Express and the Ellis chair and the Beer and Deer special is always a good(?) time. Been coming here consistently for the past five years and inconsistently for longer..will definitely continue to visit.

Best skiing I've ever had. Great view of the lake from the slopes, they even have a bar up there.

Such a wonderful experience! We bought the three day package. We’ve gone twice so far and the lines are always short and the staff is so sweet! Don was amazing in helping my friend on pointers for her first day. And the views are breathtaking. Such a gem. We will be back!

Yes - Gear available to rent includes; skis, boots, poles, snowboarding gear, and helmets. Accessories can be purchased at Homewood Mountain Sports, adjacent to the Rental Shop.
Your outfit should include: – Synthetic long underwear (top and pants) – Extra layers such as a synthetic sweatshirt, vest or softshell jacket – Waterproof Jacket – Waterproof Pants – Socks (Tip: opt for ski or snowboard specific socks and don’t wear more than one pair. Wearing multiple pairs of socks negatively affect the way your boots fit and may restrict circulation which will cause your feet to be colder than if you stick with a single pair). – Waterproof gloves – A hat – Sunglasses and/or Goggles – A helmet (helmets are available to rent at Homewood Mountain Resort) You may not need all of your gear every day that you ride but it’s better to be prepared. All off the above items are available to purchase in our Retail Shop. Lastly, bring sunscreen and chapstick and apply often. Not only is the sun more intense at higher elevations, but it reflects off the snow which means you’re twice as likely to get a sunburn
Yes, we do offer Snowcat Skiing & Riding! Homewood Snowcat Adventures accesses over 750 acres of backcountry terrain on the flanks of Ellis Peak, above the resort’s traditional ski area boundary.
Opened in 1962, Homewood Mountain Resort remains one of Tahoe’s classic family-friendly resorts with an epic peak to shore experience. Named the “gem of Lake Tahoe’s West Shore” by SKI Magazine, the 1,260-acre mountain offers unobstructed views of the entire Lake and surrounding peaks and features 8 lifts and 67 runs with over 750 acres of guided snowcat accessible terrain. Homewood offers a truly unique four-season resort with flawless grooming, hidden powder stashes and an intimate West Shore setting located just steps from Lake Tahoe. -1,260 Acres -Base elevation of 6,230′ -Summit elevation of 7,880′ -1,650 vertical feet elevation gain -8 Lifts -67 Runs -Lifts open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily (weather and conditions permitting)
From groomed boulevards to our trademark hidden powder stashes, Homewood has something for everyone. And with Ellis Peak sheltering our entire mountain from the high-ridge winds, the term “wind hold” is almost unheard of at Homewood. 67 runs, all of which have incredible lake views that will take your breath away 15% beginner terrain 40% intermediate terrain 30% advanced terrain 15% expert terrain 5 terrain parks Longest run is 2 miles long – “Rainbow Ridge” our signature beginner run
With an average snowfall of around 450 inches per season and a whopping 300 days of sunshine per year, it’s no wonder that SKI Magazine ranked Homewood amongst the Top 10 resorts in California and Nevada in 2012. Homewood is known for it’s hidden powder stashes, wind protected chairs and sheltered tree runs.
Doubt it.
89 is closed on the west shore during the winter
Should be okay as they have overflow and a South entrance. But early arrival does help a lot not just for better parking spots, but also for better snow condition and less people.

Agreed,
Homewood. Sometimes the road closes between emerald bay and Homewood so you would be stuck on the south side of lake Tahoe
Some hikers told me that it was possible when i was uo there a month ago and heading toward louise from the rubicon backside. However it was chained right after quail lake with a no vehicles sign. Hikers said there was a way around but i couldnt find it.
To ride or ski yes...to hang out and enjoy the views or wait for someone then no
Yesss
From 9 am to 4 pm 💃
West Shore Cafe is right across the road, and Fire Sign Cafe is just a 6 minute drive away. There is also a place to dine at the ski resort.
Yes, but they might be hard to come by on Labor Day Weekend. Try the West Shore Cafe or Sunnyside. Or Google 'hotels in zip 96141' for more suggestions.
