We adopted two wonderful cats (a brother and sister) from PAWS ten years ago. We asked for a “dog-cat” and went home with a cat that came to greet us at the door and played fetch, and his snuggle-bunny sister. As first time pet owners, we won the pet lottery. PAWS presented several cats, helped us make the right choices for our family circumstances, and vetted us thoroughly to make sure we could care for them. Sadly, we lost them both to cancer this past year. When the time is right, we will be returning to see if our next cat is waiting to come home with us. I trust the volunteers at PAWS and their ability to find a match. UPDATE: After getting approved for this round of adoption, we visited PAWS with open hearts and after looking at every. single. adoptable. cat. we adopted "Strawberry" who walked up to us, started purring, and claimed us as her people the second we sat down in the room. Linda was incredibly patient and kind. She didn't force us into a decision but gently offered advice when and where it was needed. Run, don't walk, people. PAWS has some very very special cats that might just steal your heart.

What about elderly and disabled people on a limited income?
Take them to paws
Yes! You must be 13 with a parent accompanying you or 18 w/o. Submit a signup form at https://www.pawsct.org/volunteer
Paws has many kittens available. You need to submit our Application at www.pawsct.org/cats Once approved we are happy to make an appointment for you to visit.
You have to be 13 and up to volunteer at Paws with our cats and must be accompanied by an adult.
We have lots of kittens in house and more in foster waiting to come in. We don't recommend bringing your dog to the shelter as it's stressful for him/her and there's a possibility your pet could get a cold. If interested in adopting we ask that you submit our Questionnaire at www.pawsct.org/cat-app so we can work on pre-approving you. You might also consider an adult cat that we already know would be OK with a dog.
Don’t move. Make your pet your priority.
Never. There are animals that have been there for years waiting for a forever home. Please consider adopting one of the ones who have been waiting and waiting.
If you go online & enter "rescue russian blue cats in ct" it will come up with all the sites that have Russian blue cats...
Give them a call. I think they are always looking for volunteers
There are generally adoption fees. The details should be available on the site
No just cats and dogs. I've seen lots of lovely bunnies on Petfinder.
Forget ordering a toothbrush from Japan — just buy a toothbrush from your vet or go to Petsmart and pick one up. Ever try JUST CATS? They have a store and are very knowledgeable.
Do you need help cleaning the boxes you have? If you live nearby I can help you.
