May brother was not cared for, they never contacted me about his health when requested. They did read documents from hospital visit on which meds he was on. When I questioned it excuses asked for call backs from doctor and Head nurse never happened. Never informed they where rising him 2 hospital 2times. He was not coherent when picked up by the ambulance they never noticed and foot gangrene infected never noticed. My brother gave them permission to talk with me on several occasions. There therapy department even had called me at times. So I am not sure why. because he gave me and his daughter permission. I am sure that someone then left my name out because they did not want to bother to talk to 2 family members

Westside Care Center should be shut down by the state and some of the staff belong in jail for the mistreatment of patients! My brother was scheduled for cataract surgery last Thursday. He has been trying to get the surgery for over a year and the eye doctor said his situation was very bad. The doctor called West Side Care and advised the nurse to make sure my brother had insulin on him in case his sugar was elevated during the surgery. My brother was not given insulin when his sugar was tested in the morning and when he arrived at the Eye Center for surgery, his sugar was tested and was 460! The doctor said he specifically called an hour before my brother was to leave and spoke to this nurse! He is going blind in one eye, the situation is very serious, and when my brother questioned her about not sending him with insulin, she just brushed him off! The supervisor was told that my brother was drinking juice and that is what elevated his sugar. This is a lie! Stay away from this place! They do not care about their patients!!!

Most often this is because the resident has just admitted to Westside Care Center for nursing care and resides on a unit where they have supervised visits for iRecovery (substance use care) until the point at which the staff knows them and can create a longer term plan of care. We always look for the least restrictive means but must control the environment when treating those in need of recovery services. As for the note below, Westside Care has long been a four or five star facility as rated by the Department of Public Health and Medicare. Trust your own eyes by touring and speaking with the staff and not a Google or Yelp review.
Thanks for the question. Westside Care Center is a licensed skilled nursing facility specializing in memory care, long term care and substance use recovery. Those in need of substance use recovery services through the iRecovery program must also need the services of a skilled nursing home while they are here. That is to say, it is not an inpatient detox center. It is also not an assisted living, group home or congregate living. There is no secure behavioral health unit at Westside Care but there is one on campus at Touchpoits at Manchester.
My apologies. I am sharing this with this facility administrator with time and date so we can review why the phones were not being answered.
