We enjoyed a Friday evening Dinner Train Excursion on the My Old Kentucky Dinner Train. The experience features a 2 1/2 hour ride on two vintage 1940’s era dining cars pulled by two 1959’s era locomotives. The scenery was varied and beautiful and included an engineer’s view of several distilleries. The assortment of entrees and desserts was delicious and our service was excellent. The portions were very generous and served hot. The dining cars were comfortable and the air conditioners work well so you might bring a jacket.

This is definitely a GREAT experience. Food was phenomenal.. We ordered the prime rib which was tender and full of flavor. Our server Erica was Very personable and provided great service. She was very tentative to our needs and made sure that we were taken care of consistently. The only thing that I would say needed to be improved would be the gift shop. There aren't very many options to choose from and a lot smaller than we all anticipated. Also, in my opinion I felt the side items that come with the entree should be something your able to choose. Some of my family members did get the Marzala Chicken and in their opinion it was a little dry. Overall definitely a great experience and would go back.

The food was outstanding! The staff was friendly and delightful, and the experience was simply incredible! Worth every penny, truly! We got to chat to the engineer afterwards and he was so humble and friendly.

The food was delicious and the entertainment was outstanding. Our server was did an excellent job and I believe her name was Lexie. So many people were dressed like they were on a picnic. Would be nice to see a higher dress code and strictly enforced.

Clean and casual is fine.
We did our reservations on line through their website. It was easy
Alcohol and appetizers are extra.
Prices vary, usually between $70 and $110 per person (could be more with add ons). The food and service is top notch.
About2 hours total.
Yes you will be able to see the receipt and details on their website. They will have the tickets ready whenyou artive for the trip.
I was on the train mother's day and there were 2 babies there. I would call to confirm if that is acceptable.
Ive heard of the mystery murder but not the haunted , sounds cool tho
Yes there is enough light. In addition, the cars have lights on the side that shine out away from the cars illuminating things after darkness falls.
Hi Frank! Just call our reservation line at 502-348-7300 and they can check on that for you.
Children ages 5 and older are permitted to ride during the lunch & dinner excursions. They may also attend murder mystery excursions and some special events. Additionally, we offer special children’s excursions that are open to all ages, such as North Pole Express. Please visit our special events calendar to view the dates and times of these additional excursions.
Hi Bridgette! The train route does not go to Louisville, but takes you on a journey through the beautiful Kentucky countryside, passing through the Bernheim Forest over a wooden trestle bridge and by famous distilleries such as Four Roses and Jim Beam. I hope that is helpful information, and we hope to see you when it reopens!
I never saw a posted notice or a policy on their website ,plus Kentucky is an open carry and a non permitted conceal carry state. Since there is nothing posted I suppose it's your choice whether to conceal carry.Amtrak bans them unless they're on checked baggage, but that's Amtrak. My opinion is if it isn't posted or a designated federal regulated zone you should be good to go. My friend got me pointed toward Over Under concealed carry vests and jackets. They're very nice and casual looking and they have fast pull pistol slings for easy and fast reaction that one would never know you were packing.
It is a safety issue. No smoking on the train or on the grounds.
Yes. They have a very enchanting barroom and dinner/party room. The Bartender was Lovely. We just wanted coffee and when she served it to us she informed us that it was free. We left a nice tip of course and thanked her. The atmosphere of the barroom is Brilliant.
We went with a tour group. Our group was in 3 different compartments. We had to juggle tickets around for even couples be in same compartment but this was not the fault of the dinner train...it was fabulous. Great service, food and train ride.
From bardstown south on an old rail line.
Yes they are at the same place
Yes
The train runs on fridays and Saturdays. The train only runs on sundays during December and the Sunday runs are the special polar Express runs for kids with Santa.
It winds through the country in a western direction. It stops and reverses not too far past Jim Beam distillery.
They will not wait on you, so plan on being there by 4:30 by the latest. There is plenty of places to sit and they do have a full bar.
I would check the websight
Go to website for all days and times.
Yes you need to call and let them know. Food is made ahead of time, so changes needed to be made before your trip. There are some exceptions and some things that can be changed during the trip, but calling will insure that it will be correct.
Per person. Be aware table seat 4, so you will probably be sat with others
You have to check there site. We went durning the week but they had a special event Birthday Party for 2 Elderly Veterans so they opened up the second car
I believe we left at 12:30 but needed to be there by 11:30 am It is listed on their web page.
Not sure, but they have security that follows the train out and back I think.
We planned our visit months in advance. I am not sure why they don't have the or calendar out farther. I would call. Could be a website overlook. It's a great experience though.
Seems like right at $100.00 for 2, but worth every penny of it! I recommend the Prime Rib when you go.
It's approx. $95 per person. It's abit pricey & a nice train ride. & a very expensive date
The train is reservations only. You can purchase as a gift but would need to commit to a date.
There are table of 4. Couple seats next to each other and the table are wide so you can focus on each other without talking to the other people across the table.
Weekends only. Includes an awesome dinner. $90.00 round trip.
