Our mother and father moved from Blue Rock to independent living at Thirwood Place. Things were fine in that setting. However, several years later our dad passed away and, due to vision problems, our mother had to move into their assisted living section. That was the MOST horrible experience. She had to pay for the additional services such as laundry, apartment cleaning, and medicine management. ABSOLUTELY NONE OF THESE SEVICES WERE PROPERLY DONE! My sister had to report those failures to the management, and still these additional paid services weren't done properly. My sister had to do all of these things just so our mother could live in a clean and safe environment. She had to visit twice daily just to administer the proper medications. The staff, on more than one occasion, had given our mother the wrong medication. They were also paid to be in charge of reordering medications, but refused to do so because our mother used a mail order pharmacy. REALLY? They could call a local pharmacy, but not the 800 number for the mail order pharmacy. THAT JUST DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE AT ALL! IF A ZERO STAR OPTION WAS AVAILABLE, THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE RATING I WOULD HAVE GIVEN THIRWOOD PLACE! BEWARE!!! JOSEPH DILK

My Mom has been at Thirwood Place since October 2016. It is such a relief that she is being so well taken care of and in such a beautiful place. She has made some great new friends and thinks the staff is absolutely wonderful! She also loves the concerts and other musical entertainment! She raves about how delicious the food is and looks forward to dinner every night. She loves to go to the Country Store on Tuesday morning to sit with all the ladies and gentlemen to chat and catch up. My sister and I are both very happy that she chose Thirwood and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place for their parents.

Geof Day

My mother (now just 81) moved to Thirwood Place (independent living) about 2 years ago. As a family, we looked upon this decision with great concern - mostly because we didn't know what to expect and were pretty much expecting things wouldn't quite match up with the marketing material. We couldn't be happier, and we're even happier that this decision was made earlier rather than later. The people are nice, there appears to be little to no turnover in the staff, the buildings and grounds are nice - and the food is really good. My mom tells me how much she used to love to buy and cook fresh fish a couple of times a week, but finds that because the internal restaurant there gets fresh fish every day, she's happy to not cook. We've had great experiences with the nurses and - amazingly - you can actually call the main number at any time day or night and someone actually answers the phone who knows what is going on. This person actually knows all the residents and is more than happy to do favors or check up on something or another. Imagine not having to speak to one of those horrible answering machines when you really need to get through. I was astounded at how comfortable this made me feel. I can't say enough positive things about Thirwood Place. And my siblings and the larger circle of friends of the family all agree that TP does a terrific job. Keep up the good work!!!
