Yes they do. Always 100% care for their animals.
Clean towels, etc they will be super super duper tickeled Pink. They can sure Use-Them
Check with the place, call them tomorrow morning. It's best First with the "Timberline" Location. They are not a "Kill Shelter". Again contact them tomorrow morning or drive over there in the morning. I would have taken it. I can't. I've two Shitzues and GSDALSKMAL and cat. Plus I've been homeless for over two months and living out of my car. Otherwise I would. Like I said I have Shitzues. Lovable dog's.
Yes, paper work is worth it. I only wish Ga. Worked that way..
Hi Austin, we have accepted a few guinea pigs this year, but we've had trouble placing them in adoptive homes and we don't have the capacity to house them at the office over the holidays. You can reach out to the Tallahassee Animal Service Center to see what help they're able to offer. Also, check out the FB page, "The Great Florida Guinea Pig Frolic" and "Tallahassee Pets Rehoming". Make sure to check out anyone interested in taking on your guinea pig as they require more space and care than most people are aware of!
Hi Kathy, you can visit our website and complete a volunteer application or contact our office and ask for Dotty or Lisa for more information. We'd welcome the help. Thank you. (850) 224-9193 https://volunteer.leoncountyhumane.org/volunteer-application/
Hi Karen, you can contact the office tomorrow and ask for Deidre. Our fosters program is booming with kittens, but we may be able to help. 8502249193
What does it look like?
No dogs are kept at Leon County Humane Society but kept in foster homes. There are never enough foster homes if this answers your question. Always too many dogs in need of a home.
Vaccinations are included in the adoption fee for both dogs and cats.
We don't have experience with them, but the Tallahassee Animal Service Center may be able to assist you. They have a few staff members who I believe are familiar with their needs/care. Feel free to call Monday to discuss 850-224-9193.
Yes, all animals are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. Dog are tested for heartworms and treated if necessary. Cats are tested for FIV/ Feline Leukemia depending on age. All dogs and cats are also tested for intestinal parasites and treated if necessary. Many animal undergo additional medical treatment and procedures prior to adoption.
No, our foster homes are limited and soley able to care for our foster pets. We’d recommend reaching out to boarding facilities and vet clinics as well as family and friends to find a solution. If you’ve got questions, feel free to contact our office to speak with a staff member for advice. 8502249193
They don't allow pets to be adopted until they are spayed (females) or neutered (males) because they don't allow breeding.
No, we do not have a vet on site and we do not offer ANY shots. The Tallahassee Animal Service Center does however offer a rabies shot clinic on the first Tuesday of every month.
The minimum age for volunteers in most capacities is 16. We do have an option for middle school aged children (Bark & Meow Benekit), and for younger children we've got Pawsitive Readers. You can see descriptions here: https://volunteer.leoncountyhumane.org/volunteer_roles/
Contact the Petfinder Foundation they may have a wsy to help you cover the cost of his treatment
Are these your puppies? If so, we'd definitely like to provide you with spay/neuter vouchers for your pets. You can contact the office to speak with a staff member Monday.
Feel free to give us a call at the office 850-224-9193. Our cat program has remained pretty full, but if you can provide more information we may be able to help, or we can direct you toward other options. Thank you.
Sorry i get to attached to cats after my cat came up missing i haven't stop crying for him so im not getting or taking care of a cat sorry wish I could help
Hi Juhna! We will be closed the 4th and 5th of July.
Hi Constance, our foster homes remain full year round. I'd recommend reaching out to local boarding locations and check with your veterinarian. Thanks.
Depending on where you live, this would be a better question for local animal control or law enforcement. If the animal(s) are being sold, I believe at the very least a health certificate is required. You can contact our office Monday and ask for Lisa if you have specific instances your concerned about. 850-224-9193
Please call the office to discuss this situation. They can and will help, but it requires some work. Thank you!
Hi Kayza, Thank you for asking. While we do have cats and kittens at our office location, all dogs entering our program reside in foster homes.
We can always use towels, but sheets don't work for our needs. Thank you for thinking of us!
Hi Iona, LCHS does not have a veterinarian on staff. Depending on what your needs are, you should call around and compare costs with local veterinary clnics. We do offer low cost spay/neuter vouchers thanks to Be The Solution. Also, the Animal Service Center in Tom Brown Park offer a low cost rabies and microchip clinic every month (850) 891-2950. I hope that helps and feel free to call our office if you have any more questions (850) 224-9193.
Visit Proctor Subaru for the "Paws Fur A Cause" adoption event this Saturday from 10-2. We'll have lots of small breed dogs available for adoption. Refer to our website and Facebook page this week for more info. Feel free to call the LCHS office during office hours if you have questions. Thank you!
Cats are awesome!
You should probably check the shelter's website, Petfinder website or just call.
Hi Linda, we do not have birds available for adoption. I'd recommend checking with bird specific rescue groups, there are plenty of them in Florida!
Hi Sharon, our concentration at the moment is on helping animals in the areas most affected by Hurricane Michael. If you have exhausted efforts to rehome your cat with friends or family, I'd recommend checking with the Tallahassee Animal Service Center. Feel free to call our office if you have any questions. Lisa
Take her back to the humane society or take her with you
No, you do not have to adopt to visit. We have cats and kittens on site, however all of our dogs love in foster homes. I will let Claire know you said hello :)
Hi Mary, you're best bet is calling around town because costs can vary greatly between clinics. We do offer vouchers thanks to Be The Solution for low costs spay/neuter services at North Florida Animal Hospital and Animal Aid.
Yes, I think it's the second Saturday in the month until October..Check the web site all dates are listed there.
I only adopted a pet from here, please call them directly. I'm sure one of the knowledgeable and wonderful staff members will be happy to find out for you! Thank you for considering adopting...it has been a great experience for me and my family! This place is awesome!
Well I tried Leon county humane society and they took me through a rigorous process and still gave the puppy away after the family returned her. Panama city beach have beautiful puppies. I went to the website and checked them out, put in an application, was approved, and went down to the humane society to get him. He will be 1 years old next month.
