Amazing location right by the entrance to Yosemite park. We are a family of five and we stayed in a villa that had a room for the kids (sofa bed) and a room for the parents. The room is equipped with a coffee machine ,a small fridge and a safe. Bath amenities are a great (they sell their own line). The kids enjoyed the pool and the s’mores by the fire in the evening. The restaurant is good but pricey which is why we only had dinner and not breakfast. For breakfast and lunch (for the hikes) we bought groceries in the general store. They also have a laundry room and a game room which the kids loved. All in all a really great place to stay. Reason for the 4 stars is the no AC in the room (the ceiling fan made terrible noise so we couldn’t use it) and the high prices and long wait in the restaurant.

An upscale hotel and spa on highway 120 on the way to Yosemite. The staff are very nice and the place very clean. They have a really nice pool and it was really busy when we got there. The resturant was spacious and cozy, their menu was kinda limited to breakfast, lunch and dinner. Not many choices on desserts though. They have a general store at the lobby where we looked for ice cream and other cold stuff as it was 100F that day. They only have about 3 or 4 flavors of ice and no shake or slushy. there was a lot of coffee though.

Stayed in the Lodge King Room with my cousin. The focus is families though you can certainly enjoy time here sans kids. The Restaurant as its so aptly called has last call at 9pm which I find rather early but staff accepts the fact diners lounge and eat well after 9pm. Wait staff maintain a solid rapport with patrons. Fun & loquacious. Rooms are spacious, clean, well stocked and the shower room allows you to immerse in a rainfall after a day at Yosemite.

I had the best stay at this hotel over weekend! I was mostly impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. I want to highlight that we had a great experience with a young man at the front desk right off the bat. We made our way to the spa for the rest of the day and Kennedy was a rockstar. She helped us order lunch, brought us extra pieces of these little chocolates and was just super at customer service. Patrick was running the tavern restaurant and although he was the only bartender and the only server, he was so friendly, constantly checked in and even went out of his way to recommend hikes and book on hikes. The property was clean and had so many fun amenities for all ages! We wish we could stayed longer and will definitely be back!

Is there an age limit for the spa?

Hi Kylie - this is Teri from Rush Creek with a little clarification for you. Right now it seems like there is no age limit because we've made Spa amenities available for Private Day Use sessions which are open to families of all ages. Once we're allowed to open back up to the general public for Day Use, the age limit will be 18 years. The great news is that the Private Day Use has been so popular with multigenerational families, we will still offer 2 Private sessions a day once Day Use is open to the public. If you have more questions I encourage you to reach out to the Wellness Team directly at (209) 379-2425 and they'll be delighted to talk with you. Enjoy!

We will be driving to San Francisco after we check out of Rush Creek lodge this summer. Are there any must stops or eats on the way to SF we should see?

I know some people recommend Chines Camp as a, stop. I stopped there a few years ago on my way to Sonoma. It is a pretty place with hiking trails. Since the drive from Rush Creek Lodge can be accomplished in under 3 hours depending on traffic I would recommend perhaps stopping in Pleasanton which is more than half way to SF. There is a nice walkable downtown to stretch your legs.

Would anyone highly recommend the Big trees hike and swim tour through Rush Creek Lodge? I have also booked the glacier point tour through Rush Creek Lodge.

I stayed at Rush Creek Lodge in July 2018 and did a tour that had a swimming option. The guide was very good and the water was delightful. I wanted to do the glacier point tour as well. I hope you are staying long enough to enjoy the facilities at the lodge such as the beautiful swimming pool and the evening smores.

We are looking at the Big Trees Hike and Swim. Would you recommend it?

Daisy Chicken | Jan 30, 2020
Rush Creek Lodge and Spa at Yosemite (Owner) | Jan 31, 2020

Hi Daisy, There are actually three groves of Giant Sequoias in Yosemite National Park. Most people think of the Mariposa Grove, which is on the south side of the park, but the Tuolumne and Merced Groves are located in the northwest section of the park, quite close to Rush Creek. Our Big Trees Hike & Swim is one of our most popular excursions, so you'll likely love it as well. You are always welcome to call or email our Recreation team directly for more detailed information - they're more than happy to answer questions and help you plan adventures that are best suited to your interests. Happy trails! Teri and the Rush Creek team
