Recently, my mother spent approximately 2 months at the Oakwood Care Center. The first day was not a good one. My mother had been transported to the center from the hospital in the afternoon. She was moved to her room by the ambulance staff but was not greeted by anyone from the care center in a timely manner. My mother is legally blind and was very anxious as she thought that they had left her in the hallway. She didn't realize she was in her room until I arrived a bit later. Needless to say, this experience made me very apprehensive about leaving my mother there...but I'm so glad she stayed!!! I am absolutely in awe of the job these folks do on a daily basis. As a Skilled Nursing Facility, they receive patients who have significant physical, social and emotional issues. The facility staff is friendly and courteous and some team members deserve special recognition: Nick---who graciously greets people every day at the front desk; Fuseini (Nurse Manager)---who provided onoing assistance to my mother and our family, always with a smile; Edo (Nurse)---who was my mother's first nurse and continued to check on her throughout her stay; Donte (Nursing Assistant)---who gave my mother immediate attention and care when she needed it most; Demetria (Nursing Assistant)---who provided my mother with daily care, even if she was not assigned to my mother that day; Dr. Day (Physician)---who took time to discuss my mother's medical needs with me; Kay (Therapy Assistant)---who always encouraged my mother to do her best in therapy; Courtney (Social Worker)---who helped me with the coordination of services provided to my mother; Theresa (Administrator)---who was instrumental in managing the facility and addressing our famiy concerns in an understanding manner. It is essential that family members be advocates for their loved ones in any facility. It is my hope that all clients have the positive outcomes we have had at Oakwood Care Center!

Nurses are loud throughout the day and night. Trying to get something change it's been 5 hours. Still not changed yet. Only a few people are actually nice here in this dump
