It is better to take the free bus from the Pentagon to DHHQ. There is very limited parking onsite and you muct plan for a parking permit in advance.

Difficult to access RAPIDS site. If you don't work at this location, expect to find parking outside the facility. There is no where close to do this. Once you've found a spot Hike to the entry point. Once they let you on site, Hike to the far side of the building to where it says Visitor entrance. Once inside, follow security personnel instructions. You will have to go through a metal detector, and your belongings x-rayed. Eventually, someone will show up to escort you to the RAPIDS waiting room. Once there, enjoy the wait. Wireless signal is weak and no one I asked knew the guest wifi password. I recommend pre-downloading a book or games that don't require internet connection. EDIT: Having gone two more times since my initial review, I can say that the cellular signal in the building (at least for T-mobile) as vastly improved. Additionally if you have an appointment instead of doing a walk-in, you can email them to get a parking pass which makes it a much more convenient site.

Best to call tricare for that question.
There are 2 entrances. The main entrances is off of US 50. There is a Visitors Gate across from Northrup Grunman.
No...there is no shuttle service from any hotel to DHHQ. There is, however, shuttle service from the Dunn Loring Metro Station 🚉 to DHHQ
You need to get some sort of preregistration form from whatever person or entity you are visiting before you show. Even then, its a coin flip depending who the guards are. I've been there 3 times and 3 times i was told different things on the rules for visitors. It's best you meet the people in the building in the outside lobby and let them deal with their hot mess of draconian security protocols...
Most veterinarians that are employed by the military at dhhq are either Public Health officers or other officers in the military that are not actively practicing veterinary medicine. Frequently they do not have active Veterinary licenses because they're not functioning as a veterinarian. It's not dhhq who's doing the hiring but instead each individual service or the defense health agency DHA
Please call Tricare for benefits questions
