Free Overlook on the TVA, free parking in the very small lot, holds 10 cars or less. 1hr limit, you will definitely get a ticket if you stay too long. Super cool views, a nice hiking trail alongside cliff. Place is better than paying to enter any park in the area. Be careful next to the cliffs edge, there is no guard rail.

Beautiful day for a gorgeous spot! Parking is LIMITED, with 9 or 10 spots. There's a "1 Hour Limit" posted, but we are certain some visitors were there for the afternoon. The lovely trail down to the overlook area features natural rock "steps" that would prohibit anyone in a wheelchair (and walkers, more than likely), but it's a cool and shady trip down. There are wildflowers, berries and more offering little splashes of color along the way. (Great for pics, not for picking.) Coming back up can be tricky for anyone who is out of shape. As for the site itself: Beautiful! There are two large flat boulders for photo opps of the view. That is, IF people haven't decided to camp out there for the afternoon and picnic or just chill. We never got a chance to go up to see the view or get a pic. They just sat there chatting -- on both spots! (If you go, please be courteous and let others enjoy the space, too!) We did, however, find a nice boulder under some trees that offered a pretty view of the river and downtown Chattanooga. It was shady and cool. Would we go back? Heck, yeah.

Words can't describe the view. It's a very popular spot and parking is very limited. Also worth noting you are going down the side of a cliff face. There is no handrail. The steps are very uneaven and at times large in size. Not to mention the leaves on the rocks. Which makes the case for no heals and appropriate footwear.

Amazing spot to watch the sunset but with limited parking (only 9 spots) The good thing is that the trail connects with several parking lot areas. It closes as soon as sunset happens. You might be lucky and see several climbers acceding to the rock

But good luck finding a parking space. They only have 8 spaces....

I went midday, mid week empty car lot. About 6-8 comfortable spaces
Technically, but there's plenty of rock steps they may have trouble with on the way down. Maybe have to carry them up and down
The parking area is closed, but other entrances to the trails are open
As others have said, there is a small parking lot of 10 or less spaces. Because of drivers carelessly parking in nearby driveways, fire lanes, and in the roadway, expensive parking citations are being issued in abundance. Be very mindful of this. The local police dept. is strictly enforcing these areas. The other parking areas available are at the playgrounds near Town Hall or up at Point Park. Both of those are close to a mile walk back to Sunset Rock. If you get there early enough (before sunset), you can circle the block for awhile until someone leaves and opens up a parking space. Parking anywhere in the adjacent neighborhoods will only get you a ticket or towed. Be mindful of this and your visit to the rock will be beautiful!
