Expect to wait 15 +/- 5 minutes depending on how many people are waiting ahead of you at that time.

Current id with picture for all people you are claiming and a current SMUD or PG&E bill that you pay.

Yes they take volunteers. You can schedule times with them. It will count for Community Service. You can also hold a canned food drive and donate to them for community service. If you are still in school, talk to your princioal about you organizing one. Hope this helps.

I know they accept books, children and adult. Also used clothing but I don't think they take used games or toys.

You need your current ID plus your current SMUD or PG & E bill. You go into the office, if it's your first time, and show them proof of income. They will enter you into the system. If you have others that live with you, you will need their current ID. They usually give you a lot of bread, canned goods, pet food if you need it. Eggs if they have them, sometimes meat or fish. They do have baked goods on the table as you leave as well as bouquets of flowers. The clothes closet is right next door so hook that up in the office. You can go once a month. It might be too late to sign up for the Thanksgiving Turkey. In December they usually have paper bags with coupons from Bel Air. A free gallon of milk, fresh produce & some other stuff. If you talk to them about transportation they might know someone who can help you. They open at 10:00 a.m. Get there early for the baked goods. There is a limit. Usually fresh produce of some kind too.

Talk with the volunteers there at the Elk Grove Food Bank. They can tell you about many Resources that are available in Elk Grove as well as Sacramento. Also you can call 211 yourself the assistant you'll speak with will have many Resources for you. Tell them your situation and they'll give you alot of useful info.
