This place wasn't here when I lived here in the mid-80's. So much has changed downtown, seems all for the better, at least on a weekday in July! Food was good, a little pricey, there's no service, you stand in line and then go pick up what you ordered. Stood in line for about 15 minutes to order, seemed a little slow to me, but overall good for what it is. View was great! They had a tent so that we were out of the sun. Enjoyed catching up with some old friends.

The whole family loves Dockside anytime the weather is nice- including the dog some days! The kids love to play on the hill and I enjoy sitting by the water at one of the many tables always available. One of the best hidden gems in town. Food is always delicious and drinks refreshing.

Dockside came highly recommended, but was very disappointing...$16 for two perch tacos with a single piece of fish the size of a ketchup packet... each taco definitely contained less than 1 oz of fish. Ridiculous. See photo.

great hidden gem of a spot. good bar type food with perch and walleye tacos along with many other great meals. great prices and the outside seating Is fantastic on a nice day. they had live entertainment when we went in the evening. I found this during ohio bike week a short walk away ended up there 3x though the day beer was half price as the bike week event. ended my night there with the Live entertainment, that was really good btw. he was a very talented singer and the music was not to loud either. great place for an evening coattails and a nice sun set. oh and the staff were friendly helpful and food was fast. I'll definitely make this a must stop every time I'm in town from now on.

Yes we love the pooches! #docksidedogs there is always a water bowl filled and a tin of dog treats!
No Dockside Cafe isnt open during bad weather. Their sign stating the hours says 11am to sunset weather permitting. But after the weather passes im sure they are open.
Parking is on site and FREE! Seating is exclusively outside.

Yes it is, but it's quite a way from the parking lot to the restaurant. 🙄
As long as you are 20 feet away from the entrance to a building or anoutside seating area that has staff working it, you are permitted to smoke. If it is a patio that is not serviced by any employee, you may smoke as long as you are 20 feet from the door. More importantly, the City of Sandusky (where we are located) just passed into law a smoking ban in all city parks. This includes the City owned marina that we are located. There is no smoking on the entire property, including the parking lot.
Thankyou for asking. We operate independently from the marina, which is actually called the Paper District Marina. The public transient marina is owned by The City of Sandusky, and managed by Tow Boat US. There is a short term dockage fee of $10 for up to 4 hours. For overnight it is $1.50 per foot. For additional marina information, give them a call and they would be happy to assist. From our experience they do a great job on the docks assisting boats.
