Absolutely gorgeous place. Wonderful (semi man-made) lake in Adirondacks' wilderness with clean water, beautiful campsites and easy access.

Just the best. And prettiest.

Fantastic lake. Boat in only for the campsites. Need to bring your own bear box, etc.

Always a site to see. July 2021 the lake is about 4 feet higher than last year and not seeing the boulders in the water was worrisome. Fortunately, no issues and it was an awesome trip as anticipated.

You can keep the fish you catch as long as it is in season and proper size. All adults (I think 16 and older) must have a New York State fishing license - the state website will tell you what is in season and any restrictions on a lake-by-lake basis.
When I was there which was only a few days ago they close at 7pm and I do believe they are open at 11am maybe earlier. As for day use I am not sure. I only go out to the lake when we schedule camping.
There are no lifeguards so I would not be surprised if swimming is officially prohibited. The campground map lists several day use areas. The day use area just north of campsite 13 and the day use area just north of campsite 24 have beaches and may be suitable for toddlers under close adult supervision. Many campsites have decent swimming too, but only a few have beaches that are toddler friendly. You are not allowed to just stop off at any campsite - you can only stop off at a campsite if you are registered to it. There are signs about this. This is enforced by the campground staff.
Yes. There is definitely a water spigot right next to the storage building near the boat ramp.
All of the Indian Lake sites are island sites so you sign in at the boat launch. If you reserved a site on land through the Lewey Lake reservation site, then you have to go to the Lewey Lake entrance to check in.
There is a day use fee
Gas is ok on lndian lake not on lewey lake
Yes
No, Indian Lake Island sites are boat access only. There are canoe and kayak rentals
