Many thanks to Francisco Fuentes (Best Roofing Kansas City) and his crew for a superb job installing gutter covers, making repairs to our 17 year old wood roof (he does other types of roofs too) and sealing our chimney cap. Francisco put in extra effort to accommodate some last minute decisions we made after the project started and his project oversight made for a good comfort level. His communication during the entire process (bid to completion) was great! His pricing was extremely competitive in relation to other bids I received. I would highly recommend him.

Best Roofing Kansas City installed a new roof, siding, and gutters on my house and it was a pleasure working with them from beginning to end. During the initial inspection, while I was still getting quotes, the General Manager Francisco Fuentes immediately recognized that I had a serious roof leak and a crew came the same day to tarp the area. This responsive care, helpful recommendations, and attention to detail continued through the entire job. Working with Best Roofing Kansas City was a stress free experience and I will gladly recommend them to family and friends. I suspect my house hasn't looked this good since it was built. They did a beautiful job. Thanks so much.

Is it possible to get a roof installed in the winter?

Francisco Fuentes | Feb 23, 2022

If you’ve had a major roofing catastrophe––say a tree fell on your home, or you discovered a great deal of water damage––you might need a new roof ASAP. Many homeowners are afraid that roofers won’t work in the winter, because of the dangerous weather. While it is more difficult to install roofs in the winter, most roofers can make it happen so long as they’re careful. Installing a roof in the winter may take a bit more time, since roofers have to take great care, store materials appropriately, and wait for clear days, but it’s done all the time.

How can I spot a failing roof?

When you’re trying to determine how healthy your roof is, the first thing to note is its age. An asphalt roof that’s older than 20 years is overdue for replacement. This is the easiest way to get ahead of the damages that go along with an aging roof, but younger roofs can develop problems too, which is why it’s good to inspect your roof at least one time a year. Inspection is easy since you can do it from the ground with a good pair of binoculars. Look for shingles that are curling, areas where they’ve cracked or maybe gone missing, or shingles that are missing the granules on top.

Why are my shingles discolored?

Francisco Fuentes | Feb 23, 2022
Francisco Fuentes | Feb 23, 2022

Discolorations on shingles are often caused by algae, fungus, or mold. Most of the U.S. falls into the category of a humid climate. This means our roofs are prone to inconvenient growths. Spores from algae, fungus, and mold often land on your roof. If the conditions are humid and damp, the spores will grow into larger problems, such as algae or mold. The result is discoloration or streaky shingles.

How do you know when an asphalt shingle roof needs replacement?

Here's what to look for: numerous shingles that are lifting, cracked or missing, with curled edges, or with smooth dark areas, which indicate that the protective granules have worn off. Also, go into the attic on a sunny day and, with the lights off, check the underside of the chimney and the stack vent. If you see little pinhole spots of light, the flashing is shot—another indication that the roofing might not be in good shape. While you're in the attic, scan the underside of the roof sheathing for any new signs of water staining since the last inspection, as well as any soft or moist spots, which tend to show up after a heavy rain. If these problems are widespread, it's a sure sign that you need to call a roofer

Do I need to do anything to prepare for new roof installation?

If you do need to replace your roof, there are a few small steps you can take for a smooth process. First, remove loose items from your walls and shelves. Hammering up on your roof can sometimes cause enough vibration to make unsecured items fall. Clear your driveway as much as possible and the areas around your home. There is a chance roofing materials could fall into the driveway. Your contractor will also appreciate the extra space for work vehicles and equipment. Best Roofing Kansas City completes most new roofing jobs the very same day for minimal interruption to your life. A quality roofing contractor will take care of the rest – you just have to sit back and enjoy your brand-new roof.

What are my options if I decide to re roof?

Francisco Fuentes | Feb 23, 2022
Francisco Fuentes | Feb 23, 2022

You have two basic options: You can choose a complete replacement of the roof system, involving a tear-off of your existing roof system, or re-cover the existing roof system, involving only the installation

How do I know what type of roofing shingle is best for my roof and my budget?

Francisco Fuentes | Feb 23, 2022
Francisco Fuentes | Feb 23, 2022

The first thing to consider when evaluating the cost of your roofing project is to determine whether you will need a complete roof replacement OR a re-cover of your roof. The former is a far larger roof project and thus more expensive, while the letter is a smaller project and therefore less expensive. The next question to consider is what material you will use. Roofing materials range in aesthetic appeal, durability and cost.

Francisco Fuentes | Feb 23, 2022

If my roof leaks, do I need a new roof?

Francisco Fuentes | Feb 23, 2022
Francisco Fuentes | Feb 23, 2022

How can you tell if your roof needs to be replaced?

Francisco Fuentes | Feb 23, 2022
Francisco Fuentes | Feb 23, 2022

Roofs should be replaced around the 20 to 25-year mark. By this time, important materials begin to fail. If you’re not sure of the age of your roof, there are a few signs it’s time for a replacement. Curled shingles, leaks, missing shingles, mold, internal water damage, dents, and bald spots are good indicators. If your roof is new, and you are experiencing these problems, call the company who installed the roof to find answers.
