Started pricing insurance 4 weeks ago, finally got a quote from OODIA today. WOW ! At least $6000 MORE than any of the others. Mind you, clean driving record, 815+ credit, 32 yrs experience and my own authority for almost 15 years not to mention senior ooida member, or soon to be former member !

Ooida they love your monthly payments until you filed a claim with them. And they have to pay any money out of packet. They will try to crush you by doubling your premium cost or kick you out. SMH

OOIDA is a joke they take your money but never help. I have had my authority for over 10 years. I have called OOIDA several times in the decade that I have been in business. They have never even pointed me in the right direction or given me a single useful piece of advise. They only care about money drop your membership and then they might start to listen. They need to represent us truckers and stand up for us. Carrier 411 and freight guard claims should be at there top of their list of things to fight for us. Contact me if you want to start a class action lawsuit against OOIDA or Carrier 411. Look up my MC 770935 to contact me.

If it wasn't for OOIDA fighting for the American trucker, you fools would be driving 8 hrs a day, at 55mph,monitored by in cab cameras and earning no more than a fast food worker. Crying over insurance... go get insured elsewhere. This is first and foremost a TRUCKING ADVOCACY group unlike the American Trucking Association, any driver who thinks the ATA is for the independent driver needs a mental health evaluation. OOIDA has fought more anti trucking legislation than most of you idiots can ever imagine. THIS ORGANIZATION IS YOUR ONLY VOICE IN LAW MAKING, CONGRESS AND THE COURTS. All of us should be members for the sole reasons above, not for insurance.

Not that I've heard
If you have their numbers on your truck they can do it
That's crazy outrageous, I thought $20 for parking in the Colorado area was alot. They think truck drivers make soo much money. They are very wrong.
Just correct it is not a law it is a recommendation from the medical review board and it is in the guidelines or it was I don't know if it still is and it's up to each doctor to decide whether or not you should go for a test has nothing to do with the law freaking welfare for the health industry who by the way what are the presidents of one of the big providers healthcare providers is on or was on the medical review board just another one of them deals
Since you did not own the truck until the final payment was made, you are not entitled to the maintenance files on the truck, unless your contract specifically addresses it. However, if the truck was maintained at a dealership, for instance, let’s say it’s a Peterbilt truck that was maintained at a Pete dealership or shop, the records can be obtained from the shop.

Terrie, I don't know if you came by to get parking info or not already, I am at home and dont remember times. But basically week nights are after 6pm but you need to be gone by 7am. Week ends are first come first serve and cleared out by 7am Monday.
Yes, we have a fuel card with WEX Fleet One. Please call OOIDA at 816-229-5791 and ask for Trevor Williams. He can give you all the details.
No, we don't accountants. We have a Business Services dept. that is comprised of Permits & Licensing, compliance/regulatory assistance, drug/alcohol program and a Compliance Connection service that helps to keep your paperwork in order and up-to-date.
Hi Julio, no I'm sorry we don't.
There’s a bill that would mandate speed limiters on all trucks manufactured after 1992 has been reintroduced in the U.S. House of Representatives. Rep. Lucy McBath (D-Georgia) and Rep. John Katko (R-New York) introduced the Cullum Owings Large Truck Safe Operating Speed Act on May 25, 2021. The bill, if made law, would require all new commercial motor vehicles to be equipped with speed limiters, require existing speed-limiting technologies already installed in commercial motor vehicles manufactured after 1992 to be used while in operation, and require that the maximum safe operating speed of commercial motor vehicles not exceed 65 miles per hour, or 70 miles per hour with certain safety technologies, such as an adaptive cruise control system and an automatic emergency braking system. OOIDA challenges the safety benefit of speed limiters. The devices can create unsafe speed differentials in traffic and limit a truck driver’s ability to safely pass or to accommodate vehicles merging
No. OOIDA is an insurance company for independent truckers.
OOIDA has received calls in the past from members hauling FEMA loads and having various issues. Sitting for weeks with the load stuck on your truck, FEMA taking the trailer with the load and then FEMA not having a clue where the trailer is. However, we're told DAT has some information on their website https://www.dat.com/load-boards
Don't have the answers
Federal hours of service regulations are the same for team drivers as solo drivers, though one team truck has two on-duty and driving clocks. Each driver has a 14-hour on-duty clock and an 11-hour driving clock, and each driver is required to take a 30-minute break during their shift. I was unable to find examples of a team log. The only difference would be the additions of the name of your co-driver on the log sheet.
You are not disqualified, you only have to pass with one ear. If you can't pass the whisper test you can take a test with headphones or in the booth. I believe it says it on the long form
Yes, OOIDA sells supplemental towing and clean up coverage.
I'm not sure my wife ace all the business, but it's a very professional association.
I would call OOIDA and talk to their Business Services dept. to see what your options are.
We don't currently have major medical. We've not been able to find affordable coverage.
If you're using expediter interchangeably with “carrier”, there are no laws against it. Many drivers have been led to believe that if they are terminated while on the road, away from the terminal or home, the carrier has the legal responsibility to arrange for their transportation home. This is not true. The carrier has no responsibility whatsoever to provide transportation, lodging, food, or any other amenity to a terminated driver.
OOIDA is currently working with Representative Peter DeFazio, (D-OR) who is considering legislative efforts to put a stop to drivers not being paid for their time spent idle at a shipper or receiver when an unreasonable amount of time has passed.
It is never legal to disconnect the ELD from the truck in order to make personal moves. FMCSA authorizes each carrier to restrict or even prohibit the use of personal conveyance, even for Owner Operators.
Hi Gary, we don't have any recommendations for personal injury cases. I would suggest you try www.findlaw.com. This will give you a list of attorneys in your area specific to your needs. Some of them also have reviews. Best of luck to you.
Who is they? If the speed limit is 55 then it is 55, not 62. Most times you can get away with 62 but if a cop wants to stop you for speeding he can. If you want to do 62, don't cry if you get stopped and get a ticket
Rick, I would suggest phoning OOIDA and asking for our Business Services dept. 816-229-5791
In a Final Rule published September 19, 2018, the FMCSA has removed the requirement to seek exemption for insulin-dependent diabetic drivers. As of Monday, November 19, 2018, certified medical examiners are allowed to grant these drivers a One Year Medical Examiner’s Certificate. The CME must receive an Insulin-Treated Diabetes Mellitus (ITDM) Assessment Form from the drivers treating clinician, that states the driver is on a stable insulin treatment regimen and is in control of their diabetes. It is still up to the CME to determine whether or not the driver meets the physical qualification standards of the FMCSA. Here is a link to the Final Rule in the Federal Register: https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2018/09/19/2018-20161/qualifications-of-drivers-diabetes-standard
