Questions & Answers

My name is Jan Enyart. I wear a brace on my right foot for over a year, due to Charcot foot. I now walk with a limp throwing my SI joints into a lot of pain. Have had two series of steroid shots to each SI joint with no help. Can u you help?

Hi Jan. I just spoke to 2 of the physicians and they agreed that this is likely an issue with your spine, which we do not treat here. Your best bet is to ask you Primary Care physician for a recommendation.

I have a mass of knotted muscles in my back near my left shoulder that stings & burns constantly. Yesterday, the pain shot up on the left side of my neck & top of my left shoulder. What relief can I get or what type of Physician can treat this?

Diana, that could be almost anything really. I would start with your primary care physician who would be able to determine if it was best addressed by a physical therapist or another type of provider.

I need cortisone injections in my hip and piriformus. Possibly my knees as well. Do u do this???

This is something that Dr. Wait addresses. He has an additional Fellowship in sports medicine and does a lot of specialty hip procedures. He is the one here we would suggest you seeing.

is there any alternative to knee replacement surgery for bone on bone

Hi Genae, Like most questions, the answer begins with - it all depends. For a permanent solution in most cases the answer is a knee replacement. But to delay that as long as possible there are many things we recommend to patients depending upon their specific circumstances, preferences and goals. Things like weight loss, injections, physical therapy, and NSAIDs are all things we regularly recommend and try. But to know for certain you would need to discuss with your doctor.

Has Midwest Ortho hires a foot specialist yet? Last I heard, which was a year ago, is that the doctors were in search of one.

Do you take Humana gold

John Greenhorn | Sep 21, 2019
Midwest Orthopaedics PA | Sep 21, 2019

Hi John. We do take Humana Gold. Is this a Medicare policy (Humana Gold Plus)? The one caveat is that Humana is currently in negotiations with our main hospital (Shawnee Mission Medical Center) to renew their contract and if they are not able to come to terms then that contract would term on 2/1/19. We hope that doesn't happen because we do still have a contract with Humana, but if it does we may not have an in-network hospital at which to do surgery.

Where is Physcial Therapy Locat4ed and How long is Physical Therapy?

Our PT clinic is located directly across the street from us in the strip shopping center where Panera and Dos Reales are. How much PT a patient needs depends on what they are being treated for and can be as short as 2 or 3 visits or much longer, depending what the condition is, how well the patient progresses, and whether they are able to do some of the exercises at home.

Yes we do. If you have a question about your specific plan you can call our office or see whether we are listed as in-network on the website for your Aetna plan.
