I was racially profiled at this location. Here is my story: I am from the east coast and travel for work. While on a layover, my coworker and I decided to stop at this location. We had workout attire and neither one of us had a purse. We both had our credit cards and phone. Walked in, I picked up a basket and proceeded to do what every shopper does shop. Being that it was my first time at this location, I didn't know where most items were, so i walked around grabbing what I need and looking for curly hair products ( which are scattered throughout the store). While talking to my coworker, I notice customer service reps around us but no one ever asked if we needed help. I kept shopping and finally asked for help to locate curly hair products. The rep told me the items were in the back far right side. As I am looking for the products, a security guards walks up to where I am standing, looks at me and walks away. At this point, I locate my coworker and asked her if she was being followed around the store and she said yes. I asked to speak to a manager and Ms. Maria greets us and I proceed to tell the manager about this awful experience. This is where we go from bad to worst. I told her we were being followed around and not being help. My coworker asked her if the security officer was called to the floor and she said YES. The manager Maria, did not apologize to what we encountered instead justified the actions of the reps and calling the security to the floor. She actually apologized for what their actions " appeared" but people do take items from the store so thats why we were being watched. She was condescending and showed no sympathy. I told her, we were being profile, two professionals who came in with the intentions of spending money in the store. I asked her for her name and store number. Gave her the basket and left. To say I felt embarrassed and speechless is putting it mildly. I called the corporate number and filed a complaint. It's been 10 days, and have yet to hear from anyone. I was told by two customer service representatives that the complaint was escalated and someone would contact me. I am still waiting. I was also contacted by others who have experienced the same treatment in this particular location. This behavior is not okay. The manager justifying shoppers being followed by reps in the store is not okay. Profiling customers based on their skin color and what they are wearing is not okay.
