Whilst the ascent is moderately steep, the path is mostly scrub (ie not rock scrambling), and it’s well worth the workout. Absolutely beautiful forest.

The new suspension bridge is complete. Gorgeous hike from Cape Perpetua to Yachats. 6 or 7 miles round trip, depending on how far you venture into town. So peaceful and beautiful. Trip back up to Cape Perpetua is grueling uphill, but worth the effort!

Questions & Answers

Does this trail go up a mountain? And if so can you see the sunset on the top? Also how long is the hike?

If you want to hike past the shrine, Cape Perpetua (top of mountain) is approximately 4 miles. If you want to see the sunset, I'd suggest driving to Cape Perpetua. If you want to hike and see the sunset, bring headlamps or flashlights. Not a trail you want to be hiking in the dark.
