Enjoyable nature walks. Trails were well kept and maintained. Mid-week late April was easy: only saw three other people. Hike to the lookout was moderate: challenging but doable for someone, me, who is not in shape (I'm not out of shape, …

Really nice hike. Mostly shaded in the morning, but got a little hot in the sun at some sections on the way back after lunch. We did come across a rattle snake on the trail at one point so make sure you're staying vigilant.

Beautiful picnic site and very informative panels about the history of the area. Trail was well marked. We started by hiking from the trail head to the Yuba View. The Yuba View I saw a few years ago is gone because the vegetation gas grown so much. From there we headed over to the Yuba Drop trail. Magnificent Manzanita trees but again marginal views. At the start of the Yuba Drop was a sigh saying 1 mile to the river that was still over 1000 feet below us. A very steep trail that we decided to skip.

Questions & Answers

A group of us are going up to North Yuba Trailhead/ Rocky Rest area. We want to take our rafts up a bit past Rocky Rest (our destination) where is the best area to put in to start our journey? We want to float down to Rocky Rest.

I think there is a little spot to go down to the river, but not if you follow the main trail. This goes way up above to an overlook. Also the river looked like a little trickle so maybe check to make sure there is enough water for floating.
