Participating in this program during the fall 2021, I emphasize that the DART Program does not offer substance use treatment. The SAW Staff and Counselors stress abstinence and routine, but do so with no real regard or understanding of addiction. I can only speak of my experience in D Building. SAW staff (Davis, Bratcher, etc.) were unprofessional, submitting inaccurate or untrue reports of participant behavior that resulted in unfair punishment. Staff regularly screamed down the hallways but crept when writing-up participants over trivial infractions. When participants absconded, staff were clueless, having been asleep, on their phones or not paying attention. Staff were more concerned with their own rules than the actual recovery of participants. Staff showed personal animus and imposed religious beliefs that were neither warranted nor solicited, nor did any staff member follow proper protocol in distributing medicine at any time. Nursing staff included 3 nurses, one of whom was Nurse Watkins who should not only be dismissed from the program but have her nursing credentials reviewed, having a confrontational attitude, the inability to properly read test results, and no regard for confidentiality, announcing the private health information of participants so others could hear. The counselors and social worker (Stanley, Benthal, May, etc.) were largely inept or dangerously unqualified: to my knowledge, all held the minimum required continuing education credit for substance use counseling, but no more than half held an advanced degree in the field. Foul language, persistent and excessive tardiness, favoritism, demeaning body language and comments, including gaslighting, toward program participants, were normal. Official DART documents stated that the program did not prescribe to 12 Step/NA/AA but nearly every resource given to participants was in fact 12 Step, etc material. Most horrifying: the counselors and staff returned the shaving razors to a participant who previously used those same razors in a suicide attempt. That participant was then monitored only by his roommates for the remainder of the program, not the staff. When faced with a participant who had a real or pressing issue, the counselors and social worker either seemed disinterested and disengaged, including offering to transfer participants to other counselors. Beyond this, most times, groups were combined or handed off to other counselors to view "topical" movies with no follow-up as to how they connected to recovery (which, as the reader may have guessed, most did not). Based on experience and observation, individual sessions involved signing treatment plans that were never discussed or executed. The workbooks, which are outdated by 20 years and void of modern addiction research, were superfluously reviewed. Two counselors, however, deserve commendation (Smith, white male and a new hire, and Smith, African American female) for their tireless efforts to do their job when their colleagues did not. Ironically, the probation officers of D Building (Moore and Bates) were two of the most outstanding professionals and human beings I have ever met. I began my stay at DART with an open mind, only to graduate the program after the required 90 days and after much patience, anxiety, depression and exhaustion. In short, I left in worse condition than when I entered. Almost immediately after leaving, I relapsed and nearly lost my life, causing me to enter another drug treatment program from which I received real treatment from real and caring professionals. As of this review, I am 132 days sober and clean and while I am proud of this accomplishment, I must end this review stating that not a damn day's credit of that 132 days goes to the DART Program. Not only that, I must in good conscience offer this recommendation: either replace the staff and reform the program, or close the doors of DART Cherry.

Counselors don't care about you, and saw staff are just there to push you to fail. A real waste of tax money if you ask me.

How do I set up a account for my son who is in Dart Cherry ?
his probation officer is taking him on Monday so he's going for like two weeks with no credit towards him
My husband went there and I think it did him a world of good. He didnt go in for drug abuse but alcohol and he came out better however it's all depending on you and if I want to change. You can wear your own clothes there but you cannot smoke cigs anywhere near the premises they changed that rule a while back. They will search your visitors for cigs as well.
As many you need. No electricity razors.
Money needs to be on phone to be able to accept calls.

1.Resident has to send you the 'PIN CHECK' form. 2. Complete it and mail or fax back to DART Cherry. 3. DART will let resident know when you have been cleared to visit. 4. Resident still has to then sign you up for specific Sunday date you are coming. 5. Have to arrive on time for visitation with your ID Specific I know but just to save you some hassle..trust
