Take a look at the Daiwa BG series reels. possibly a 4000 size. Affordable and dependable. You can also check out a Shimano Stradic 4000 or 5000 size

Best Bet: Blowfish seem to be making a comeback on the south shore. Clam or squid is the preferred bait. Small hook light rod and light weights are the ticket. Any dock from Patchogue to Sayville will work.
