Buchanan Swinging Bridge

Historic and awesome, but some sections of the bridge are in poor condition and it didn't feel safe to walk all the way across (as of June 2022). It swings though, in the right ways, and it's good to read about its story on the sign.

Awesome experience! A fascinating bridge with a lot of history. Parking just around the corner, easy to find and a great walk across the bridge.

Right off of Rt 91 so we stopped here on our way home from WV..very small quaint little town! Bridge I would say is more rickety then swinging but it was windy and you could feel it sway. I'm not afraid of much but my heart was definitely racing a few times. Only took about 10 mins to go over and come back with My 2 boys. I would do it again, I would love to rent some of the Kayaks right next door also.

Great experience. The Buchanan swinging bridge does swing as you cross. The second half of bridge...when entering from the main bridge...is definitely more noticeably wobbly. My husband and 7yo granddaughter walked the length of it, but I stayed in the middle. It was exciting to see people tuning and kayaking toward more rapid water. *CAUTION* For the safest and most enjoyable experience* Please Follow the 3 people at a time rule, as posted.
