I was excited to see a store like this here in Chapel Hill. My wife and I were out for a walk and decided to take a look. I'm not going to lie, everything looked perfect. People were enjoying coffee and my wife was going to look for a book. Things were off to a good start. I mean, we have to support independent book stores and this one looked to be a gem BUT then it happened. A gentlemen came from outback and barked "you have to have a mask to shop here". I'll be the first to admit the idea of being forced to wear a mask angers me and would influence my reaction BUT this gentleman was point blank rude. Which doesn't make sense at all. None of it makes sense. Policy inconsistencies in the shop clearly outline the lunacy behind their current "mask" stance but I really didn't have the energy or desire to join their circus. I let my wife know and we promptly left the establishment. To be fair, the nicer gentlemen behind the counter let us know they had masks but it was too late. I'm not going to be a hypocrite and publicly degree that my dollars won't be spent there because the truth is, once their policies thaw out and the store is a bit more welcoming I will probably make it my preferred bookstore and coffee shop.

I have been wanting to visit Epilogue for a long time and it did not disappoint. I loved the incredible variety of books, reviews and BIPOC authors. The ambiance is out of this world and it's extremely Instagram worthy. The only downside is it's a small space and there really is not enough seating for the amount of people who visit. The coffee is a nice touch, but it was average tasting. Will come back though to support local.

I loved the vibe at this store. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable on their drinks. My bf got a jalapeno flavored coffee which he loved. He compared the quality to Fount Coffee & Kitchen. Anyone who has been to Fount knows that is a high praise. I got a Mexican hot chocolate. It had a good flavor, but I am not a giant cinnamon fan so I would try something different next time. I would love to visit again when it is less busy and enjoy some reading time in one of the prime reading seats in the back.

Matcha latte was good, not as sweet as Starbucks matcha latte. A lot of ppl in the cafe. Kinda hard to find an indoor seating. Also kinda hard to find a parking lot too. Had to drive around a bit to find a parking space. Overall vibe is great. Recommend this place!
