David was very thorough, patient and very knowledgeable; he even showed me several things about the earrings he was appraising that I wasn't aware of (i.e. that the diamonds had been laser inscribed with numbers and what the numbers are). The appraisal I received was very professional; it had pictures of the earrings, detailed information and also included the AGSL (American Gems Society Laboratories) Diamond Quality Report for the main stones of my earrings. I will not hesitate to use him again in the future.

David is very knowledgeable, experienced, patient, kind and honest. We were skeptical in trusting just anyone with our jewelry but after great reviews we decided to give him a try. Our jewelry was in sight the whole time he was examining them. We would definitely recommend him and we now have our go to jewelry expert.

David was referred to us by a very satisfied customer. He was extremely knowledgeable and took his time to answer any and all questions. David is a GIA Certified Gemologist. We felt his pricing was very fair and well worth it. We will highly recommend his services to anyone looking for a very qualified appraiser.

Norelle Adams | Sep 20, 2019
Fine Jewelry Appraisals | Sep 20, 2019

Yes, I can, however it will require testing in my office. Please contact me after Thursday December 20th to schedule an appointment. Sincerely David Hermann G.G.

I have inherited multiple pearl necklaces. Will you be able to tell me what grade they are?

Fine Jewelry Appraisals | Sep 19, 2021

Yes I can Grade and Evaluate your Pearl Necklaces. I am a Certified Pearl Specialist by the Cultured Pearl Association of America (CPAA). I work strictly by Appointments Only, I understand you may want to pass these heirlooms on to the next generation. The fee for an Insurance Retail Replacement Appraisal on a Strand of Pearls is $125.00, the inspection and analysis is done "While You Watch". I do require that a Face Mask is worn at all times in the Office and Social Distancing will be observed as much as the Office space permits. Please call me at 407-774-8798 to schedule your appointment. Thank you, David Hermann G.G., CPAA

Could you identify for me if my jewelry is real? I have a number of rings and earrings that were bought, given or handed down to me that i don't know the gemstones. Are your prices per item or is there a set rate for identifying multiple pieces?

Elizabeth Phillips | Sep 20, 2018
Fine Jewelry Appraisals | Sep 20, 2018

Yes, I can identify your jewelry. Since you seem to have a lot of items, I recommend that we do a Sort and Separate. This will quickly identify pieces which are Costume or relatively low value from those items that warrant a full Appraisal. A Sort and Separate is billed in 15 minute increments, at $60.00 per quarter hour allowing you to control the fee. Posted fees are per piece based upon my estimated amount of time it typically takes to complete each Appraisal.

Can you tell if my diamond is natural or lab grown?

Casey Butler | Apr 22, 2022
Fine Jewelry Appraisals | Apr 22, 2022

This is a very difficult question, there is no simple yes or no answer. In many cases the answer is yes, there will be telltale characteristics proving the Diamond is Lab Grown. In other cases, very sophisticated equipment is needed to test the crystal structure and make-up to prove the Lab Grown origin. Please call me to arrange for me to inspect the gem.

How much would an appraisal cost for a gold wedding band?

Ryan | Sep 19, 2021
Fine Jewelry Appraisals | Sep 19, 2021

Are there any Diamonds or Gemstones mounted in the Wedding Band? My fee for an Insurance Retail Replacement of any piece of Jewelry with less than 20 Gemstones is $125.00. I work by Appointment Only, and do require that a face mask be worn at all times in the office. I accept All Credit/Debit Cards, Checks or Cash. How long will you need to appraise a piece tanzanite

Logan Brooks | Sep 20, 2019
Fine Jewelry Appraisals | Sep 20, 2019

It usually takes no more than 30 to 45 minutes in the office to measure, identify and grade a gemstone. It will take me 2 business days to do my research and create the Appraisal Documents. This will include a Comprehensive Description of the Piece of Jewelry and a Comprehensive Description of each of the Components that make it up. The Appraisal Documents typically are 6 to 8 Pages and include Digital Photographs. Please give me a call to set an Appointment. Sincerely, David Hermann G.G. Graduate Gemologist. 407-774-8798
