Not the Safeway I grew up with in the 80’s…this one turned into the Walmart of Safeways. Watch your back in the parking lot: human parasites abound, thanks to the Sunrise Inn, the seediest motel across the street. If you’re a single woman, you need to be mindful of your surroundings and really shouldn’t unload a full cart alone after dark. Creeps have followed me to my car, very quietly. Lots of homeless and severely mentally ill people roaming around, one was stripping down inside the store by the doors tonight, with all his gear everywhere. If you’re waiting in the car you’re in for a show after dark. High drama, either on foot or behind the wheel. This is kind of a meetup spot for people who shouldn’t be allowed to drive, too. I was almost hit by 3 different cars while backing out recently, one after another. Bathrooms were shut down a lot because they were being abused by drug users etc. The doors on the right are locked after dark due to theft. Long checkout lines + not enough checkers often. Constant issues with the debit card readers. Extremely MEAN encounter with one employee and his coworker in particular, which is why I appreciate self checkout..but then the machines don’t work. I miss the old checkers, they all disappeared when the store changed hands or whatever. The seafood counter is decent. Some nice flowers and produce. The Starbucks inside is the best in town, ironically enough. Deli is really not that great, but I’ve had some good sandwiches made there. No cutlery, no napkins anywhere, so be aware of that. Not enough mobility scooters available. I had to either leave my client standing or walk her to the other side of the store to find one. Some items have high markups. Has a run down, dingy atmosphere nowadays (all of the Safeways in this region do). Out of towners: CostCo is your best bet, when it comes to being the polar opposite of this review. Raley’s is another option. CoOp, too (no scooters available, though). Grocery outlet for odd n ends (no scooters, check exp dates). Food Maxx, too, which is the only 24-7 supermarket in town (also no scooters, unless things have changed). As for Safeway: take me back to 1988.

Best thing about this Safeway is it’s open until 1am. Even during normal hours there is always parking and it never feels crowded. Always a plus in California. The produce crew was also friendly and answered my questions.

I've always liked Safeway. Good prices and a better quality of food in my opinion. Lots of stores have changed over the years and you can feel it. Safeway seems to be more like McDonald's. You know where to find what your looking from the design of each store. It's kind of like the opposite of Home Depot stores.

Rediculously long line for the only manned checkout counter. Front checkout help was called for four times before anyone arrived. I was just about to abandon my cart and walk out. I normally rate Safeway 4 starts, but definitely not this visit.

Talk to a manager. They will have that on video and may be able to help
I get better deal at costco.
Go ahead and call them and ask if they could fill an order for you they are so helpful there
Yes, as far as I know. There are some amount limitations but if your check is that large, you probably don't need their services to begin with.
Right in front of the store they do, just ask a Safeway employee for help
No longer in that region assume aprox 2hrs after open
