When I moved here I had initially expected to live here for around 4 or 5 years. The apartments are nice for the area and the price seems to be a little high but I didn't expect it too be as bad as it was. I had felt more comfortable living …

This property is owned by the Messler clan of Troy, Ohio and is a First Troy rental property. This has undoubtedly been my single worst rental experience. We went our entire 12 month lease without any complaints against us and never had to …I am sorry you feel this way Mr. & Mrs. Kuhn. Unfortunately, your critique and allegations are incorrect and unjustified. I received your notice of your intention to vacate the apartment on 10/5/17. This notice was several days beyond your time frame to submit your thirty-¬day notice to vacate. According to the terms of the Rental Agreement in which you signed on your own volition, you were to provide us a thirty-day notice which should have been submitted on 10/1/17 to prevent the lease from renewing for another like term of 12 months. The language from your Rental Agreement is below for others might see that you agreed to these terms. However, it appears you are now unhappy since you did not submit the necessary notice to vacate in the time frame stipulated in the contractual agreement. 2.8 TERMINATION OF AGREEMENT The Security Deposit shall be refunded, less any retained amount specified, only upon the termination of this Rental Agreement at the end of the original rental term or at the end of any renewal term thereof, and only if notice in writing of termination has been given Thirty (30) days prior to the periodic rental payment date, which is the first day of every month, the keys are returned to the Management and the premises are found, upon inspection, to be in clean condition with no damage - ordinary wear and tear excepted. As enumerated in the Security Deposit Addendum "A", a cleaning charge will be assessed when the Management must clean the premises. This will be deducted from the Security Deposit. In the event that the terms of this Rental Agreement are breached and/or the premises are abandoned by the Resident(s), the Security Deposit may be applied towards any rental payments that may be due or become due thereafter. A second inaccuracy in your review is that you claimed you paid your rent on time for the 12 months you occupied the premises. According to my records you were late paying May 2017 rent. As a courtesy we waived the late fees for you but that was not mentioned in your review. A third inaccuracy in your review is that the rental sign was removed from the lawn and the apartment was removed from the internet listing prior to having the premises rented. That allegation is blatantly incorrect. The rental sign and online ad was removed on December 7th after my office received the security deposit from the incoming resident. The purpose of the Re-rental charge is to offset my out of pocket expenses as a result of individuals breaching the Rental Agreement. During the course of attempting to re-rent your apartment, my staff made multiple trips up the interstate (40 miles each way) to show your apartment This cost my company employee time and vehicle/gas expense. In addition, my staff answers numerous phone calls, guest cards, and email inquiries every day in an attempt to relieve you of the ongoing financial responsibility for the apartment. Finally, we have to process incoming applications and prepare rental agreements all which take additional time which ultimately benefited you. I am sure you understand no one likes to work for free. Unfortunately, I believe my company has been made out to be the bad guy in this situation because you did not adhere to the contractual obligations you agreed to. It would be nice to place the blame on someone else because of one’s inability to be an adult. Furthermore, I would like to have accommodated your request for “mercy” on the lease renewal, but my lender is not so understanding when it comes to making the mortgage payment on the apartments. As an adult, I realize that I entered into an agreement with the lender and as such, I have to adhere to the terms of the loan and I cannot place blame on the bank if I fail to live up to those terms. In closing, I would like to point out that my company relieved you of your obligation for the apartment and ongoing utility expenses by re-renting the premises in less than 45 days after you vacated. Final charges were $1855

Poor ventilation. Thermostat set at 60 with temp reaching 85 degrees upstairs in the summer months. Poor management. Very slow to respond to requests. Don't expect your deposit back.
