My two grown daughters and I stayed here for a family get away in July 2022. I loved the living history at the hotel. So much to learn about the mill and the people who worked in it. Staying here was a very unique experience. The hotel is beautiful and charming. We chose to stay on 4th floor where the rooms are more authentic to the cotton mill. Did we have a paranormal experience? I woke in middle of the night to a noise In the wall I have no explanation for. The outside patio is lovely. Brookstown Inn has a ballroom too that's makes this an excellent place for wedding and events. The free homemade hot breakfast bar was a huge treat. I also loved the hotel has plenty of free parking. This hotel could be a romantic getaway, girls night out or family trip. All the employees were very friendly and helpful. If you get bored with the same old cookie cutter chain hotels Brookstown Inn is for you.

Unfortunately this potential gem of a hotel is still a few steps away from its full potential. The air conditioning did not properly function in our first room. Neither did the shower, where a millimeter adjustment too far in either direction sent the water temperature from searing to icy. When we asked about the ac issue on the way out to dinner, we overheard the (absolutely amazing staff) discussing the issue and that it had just been "the hot room" for years. The front desk quickly set us up with a new room. That room shared a finicky shower, though not nearly as bad as the 1st room. Everything else about this hotel is wonderful and charming, which makes the deferred maintenance that much more disheartening. I hope to revisit the hotel in a few years; hopefully by then the last bit of necessary care has been put into it, to make it the gem of Winston Salem it rightfully deserves to be.

We hosted our wedding at the Brookstown Inn and had the best experience we could have asked for. Loved working with the staff every step of the way. Everything was such a smooth process from the "big picture" stuff to the small details and timeline considerations I wouldn't have been able to think of on my own. Every staff member was delightful to work with. We received so many compliments from our wedding guests on the venue and the overall hospitality. The rooms are spacious and beautiful and it felt like we were staying in a little resort. 10/10 would recommend a wedding at the Brookstown or just a stay.

Positive: It is a charming place to stay. Love that they have turned this old mill into a beautiful hotel. My family and I always enjoy just walking around and looking at everything, and reading the history. Staff is always friendly and courteous. Negative: On this particular stay, we had issues with the cable tv. For some reason, we couldn¿t access any cable news channels, except for CNN in Spanish. Actually, there seemed to be a lot of Spanish language channels.

How many breweries are you near?

I can't think of any breweries in the immediate vicinity. That being said, a 12-15 minute walk will take you to Fourth Street where you'll have options for both food and drink. One brewery that is quite popular with the locals is Foothills. In the same area you'll find great food (and a selection of both local and international beers) at Hutch & Harris, as well as The Old Fourth Street Filling Station. There is ample parking downtown if you prefer to drive. Slightly farther away (about a 20 min walk) you'll find Wise Man Brewing where you're sure to find something interesting on tap any day of the week. Right near The Brookstown Inn is Willow ' s Bistro which has has great market fresh food and an excellent wine selection. If you visit historic Salem, don't miss Winkler Bakery to enjoy their sugar cake; I've heard that The Tavern in Old Salem may also be worth a stop although I have not had a chance to visit myself. Hope you enjoy your stay in Winston-Salem.

Does this Inn have a restaurant

There is a restaurant next door that looks to be rather fine dining and a nice environment and across the street is a delightful little Italian restaurant, which is where we ate. Both are independently owned and you can dress up or go casual. That's just what I saw from standing in front of the inn. It is my understanding that there's more and all seem to be within an easy walk.
