The shelter was clean and the staff very present. All the animals seemed well cared for. They helped us find the best cat for us, making sure we knew enough about the cats we met that we could make an educated decision.
Judy Derosa
Today I adopted my sweet friend. Everything was professional and caring. Awesome people !!!!

We do offer low-cost cremation. Call reception for details.
Elena, please contact the Dog Supervisor at 331-5377 x218 for assistance. Thank you!
Please contact our Cat Department Supervisor to discuss surrender. She can be reached at 845-331-5377 x218.
To be honest the clinic handles that. Your best bet would be to call them.
The Ulster County SPCA is open Tue-Sun from 11:30am - 3:30pm. Monday is the only day the shelter is closed.
I just had my girl spayed it was 100 it included shots and flea treatment and nail clipping
Diana, unfortunately we do not offer this service. There are several cat groomers who can provide this service. Thank you.
Yes, we accept donations of towels, blankets and sheets. They can be dropped off in our donation bins at the shelter 24/7. Thank you!
Hi Linda! Yes, we can always use litter boxes, whether in the shelter or for our community pantry to benefit pet owners in need.
You will have to contact the UCSPCA directly for an answer to your question.
Hi Ruth, check out our Available Cats page at UCSPCA.org there you can see every cat and kitten we have as they become available! Currently we do not have any white kittens, but keep an eye out for more being posted there over the spring and summer.
If you message or call they can let you know. I forget how much my dog was but super cheap
The UCSPCA dog spay surgery is $250 and includes the surgery, rabies and distemper vaccines, heartworm test, one month's flea prevention and a nail trim. Please call the clinic at 331-5377 x216 to discuss the specifics of your dog's case/health to determine an appropriate timeline for surgery. Thanks!
I don't know about the adoptions, sorry! Try calling on Monday!!
Ritva, our adoption process is online. You can go to our website, www.ucspca.org and view all of our adoptable cats. Find one you are interested in and complete the online adoption application. A counselor will call you to approve the application and set an appointment for you to come in and visit the cat. If all goes well, your adoption will be completed and you will go home with the cat that day. We are not doing any tours in the shelter due to COVID precautions. Thank you!
We will always post holiday pet photo events on our website and Facebook!
Matthew, although a rabies vaccination is required to be up-to-date to receive a dog license, the license cannot serve as proof of prior vaccination as it will not provide the date or type of vaccination provided. You can still receive a one-year rabies vaccination (instead of a three year) at the free clinic if you do not have proof of prior vaccination.
Angela, not sure if you are asking about dogs or cats which have different pricing. Please call the clinic at 331-5377 x216 and they will answer all of your questions. Thank you!

You can see all of our available pets at www.ucspca.org.
We can never guarantee that a cat would be Hypoallergenic. You can view our available cats online and are welcome to come in and visit some of the available cats we have available and may. find one who is a good fit for you. Our website is www.ucspca.org.
Truly can not answer. Best thing is to call them.
I'm not sure if there will be kittens available that day but in answer to the other part every animal that comes through the doors is tested, dewormed, vaccinated, and altered.
No he was finally adopted the other day
They probably will get in trouble with the law if its proven
Hello Melanie, Pooh is still here at the shelter, but is not yet up for adoption. You can check our website www.ucspca.org to see when she becomes available for adoption.
Hi Sally, thank you for reaching out. We currently are at max capacity for cats, but please call around to other local shelters to see if they can take him.
Thanks for asking, please come with a valid id, information on your vet, home address, animal history, and potential references.
Our clinic is always the last Wednesday of the month at 2pm but we recommend coming early as it is a cap on the first 20 people who arrive.
Valerie, thank you for the offer but futon mattresses are too large for our dog rooms. We do not have a use for them. We are always happy to accept towels, blankets, sheets, and clean linens. There is a donation bin outside of the building. Thanks for thinking of our animals.
I am so sorry for you and your pet. I believe all vets have a cremation fee, depending on size of animal. Usually cats are $65 to $85.
Hello Meghan, We actually do not provide wellness visits for the public, we offer spay/neuter services and basic vaccine services. We recommend you contact your vet for wellness services.
No but check back August or September they may be having another free event
The Ulster County SPCA has a vaccination clinic next scheduled for Wednesday, June 27. We offer significantly reduced prices on vaccinations, including only $10 for a rabies shot. Additional services include distemper shots, nail trims and ear cleaning, heartworm tests, flea and tick preventatives, and other important services for pet owners. For more information please call the clinic at 845-331-5377 x216.

Other than put an add in the paper, tou could put an ad in a pet store, or ASPCA is always an option, good luck.
Yes it is a no-kill shelter thank goodness right!
Every Wednesday from 2p.m. to 5p.m.
Our adoption fees vary, puppies are $350 (1 year or younger), adults are $195 (1-8 yrs old), Special needs $95 (8 years or older, an animal that has been in the shelter longer than 6 months), and a dog under 25lbs is $250
Female dogs are $225, male dogs are $150. Both prices include a rabies and distemper vaccine, flea prevention, nail trim (if wanted) and an ear cleaning.
Every one can have a bad day! She probably makes a a lot less than you.
