*** UPDATE *** After a phone call to us, we were not charged for the gas. Thank you! Typically it has always taken us an hour to get to dog beach. This day... was almost two hours. We had the engine open and the boat wouldn’t plane out! Once we got to the beach we looked at the bottom of the boat and both pontoons were covered in shells, grass and whatever else could latch on and stay! The whole bottom of the boat was covered with this stuff. Needless to say, we had to leave early to get back and it took us over 90 minutes to get back, and with the throttle pushed all the way!! Once we got back, I told the Mr. Olderfella of the problem and he said it was our fault. That I didn’t know what I was doing. I told him that we’ve rented here several times and this is the first time we had this problem. He told us if we didn’t like it, then rent with someone else. Okay. I said “we will”. He put gas in it and proceeded to charge $55 for gas!!!! The last 5 times we rented we never paid more that $20 for gas. We don’t drive the boat other than to get to the beach and back. That’s it. I told him that I thought this was ridiculous since they obviously know the pontoons are covered and that the drag on that boat was keeping us from planing. I gave up and told him that he’ll get his money and we’ll rent elsewhere.

I have my 3 strappin' grandkids, my daughter my wife and her husband. We want to rent a boat for the day near Captiva. What's the cheapest way to go? Also which charter boat company for some great fishing?

Mike's Marina is a great place to rent a pontoon boat sounds to me like with the family and the grandkids pontoon boat be your best bet make sure you get the tritoon the one called the baby blue at Mike's do not go out on a windy day I would not bother renting a charter fishing boat from what we have heard I'll s you go way way out there nobody's catching anything red tide

What's your cost for renting a pontoon, how many hours and do you have any available for July 6-8 (any one of those days)?

I just spoke to them yesterday and no pontoons were available. Very sad because this is the go to spot for boat rentals. Prices are great, times are perfect and the staff is very nice and knowledgeable. Not to mention the location is convenient when you head out. Your best bet is to call and ask and get ur name on the waiting list
