The facilities are great and the programs too, but the administration of these programs needs to be further developed. They seem to not have a way to communicate with people in a class, so when classes are canceled you are lucky if you heard the week before by someone else or if you constantly look at their website and they happen to post it. In addition, children registered in a class, like swimming, are not able to continue their training straight to the next level or in the same one, because they lack a system to support it. So, you have to predict in which level your kid will be 3 months ahead, if you guessed wrong you will have to wait 3 months for just a chance to register your kid in the appropriate level. But registrations are almost impossible, as many parents register for multiple levels in advance for the same kid to assure a continuity, which creates a fake demand on courses… Mostly, I am referring to the weekend schedule, because if you have time for 11am class during the week then you might not notice this convoluted ways of offering classes. This center could benefit from some computer system update and better strategies to implement their offerings and maximize the benefits that participants could obtain if classes would allow for a continuous registration once you get in a class/group.

Monterey Sports Center is a gigantic open space facility, packed with well organized, clean, well maintained machines and equipment. The locker rooms are clean and arranged for optimal privacy. Great programs for kids. I do aquatic therapy and the pools and saunas fit the bill flawlessly. I homeschool, so these programs will work into our curriculum. Kid Approved.

Thanks, David. Are there any sports stores in the area that sell badminton gear?
Check the MSC website
Good question. I don't know, but you might call and ask.
It is unclear what, if any, jobs are open here in mid-August 2022, but the Monterey Sports Center does have jobs, such as lifeguard and recreation leader, for which you can be 15 years old (or older).
They allow visitors to swim. But close early on Sundays. Check the times.

Children are allowed, but this is Monterey and I assume most people would rather be swimming with their dogs.
Every Friday from 7:00 to 9:15 is "Float time." This is a time for families to enjoy the pool with "anything that floats." (inner tubes, life jackets, beach balls, etc.)
6am to 930 pm
