The Durham Downtown Y is a wonderful place. The clientele is all different kinds of folks, different shades, different economic conditions etc. The Y serves everyone. It is the world like I would want it to be. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Yes, the building is worn but I love it for who is there and the inclusive, friendly atmosphere. And, they are building a new bigger, better building on the same spot starting in Dec 2022 or Jan 2023.

Yes, two pools. One is for lap swimming and the other is warmer for recreational swimming. There is a small slide for children as well.
Classes are scheduled almost daily. Check the website for the schedule. The building is slotted for demolition in the fall with a 2 year rebuilding.
