After giving a “ representative” personal info about everyone in my household such as ss# and dob, I hear her typing on a phone and a send sound. She asks me if she can put me on hold, then hangs up the call. Waiting on hold for 40 minutes, trying hard to understand a lady with a Spanish accent, give very sensitive life changing info over the phone, only to not get an appointment but ultimately an ended phone call. I do not feel comfortable at all right now and will be paranoid for our credit amongst other things.

By August of 2021, I had taken 4 employees to this office to apply for the SSN and it was quick and efficient each time...I am talking less than 10 minutes per person. We took all the required documentation each time and it helps to be prepared and ready. Update for 7/8/22...this morning I took 8 employees to get their SSNs and again, the process went very smooth. We called ahead yesterday to make sure we had all the appropriate documentation. We already had their applications completed and printed their I-94 info from Homeland Security's website. The process took less than 45 minutes for all 8. The staff was very helpful and courteous especially Miss Emily and the security guard, but I did not get her name.

Called the location this week, was told what to bring, came into the branch days later with that information, only to be met by the rudest security guard, I asked for the guy I had been speaking too on the phone ( John ) and the guard said I would get who I get to sit down….. I was called too a booth ( was not John ) and was told them documents I brought were not what I needed and I couldn’t use them, John came up and told the guy that’s what he told me and even pulled out the rules for him and they still wouldn’t do it. And we’re ugly about it, waste of gas and a day off work….

The telephone conversations with representatives in the Smithfield office were very helpful & courteous. The office visits have been very helpful, fast, & courteous as well.

Two on-site Spanish-speaking translators & dual-handset conference call translation services for most languages. Conference call interviews are still face-to-face with a SSA employee.
Depending on your disability and what your doctor say.
