Major injury. Took X-rays. After three hours a Physician Assistant came out to tell me there was no breaks or fracture so probably a sprain. Said if it wasn’t any better in a week I would need to follow up with an orthopedic. PA did not examine my foot, have me attempt to push left, right, up, down against his hand, did not compare it to other foot. I asked if I could walk on it and drive and he said it just depends on my pain. My foot got a little worse everyday. Even though I have not put pressure on my foot, tried to stand on it, or drive on it, my foot has become much more bruised and swollen. My pain and discomfort has increased significantly as well. Went to see an orthopedic today they were very surprised to see my condition today, the status and severity of my ankle/foot. They questioned the treatement I received at Wake Med ED last Tuesday the fact that they simply wrapped my ankle with ace bandage and gave me crutches. They said I need an MRI for possible tear which needs to be ruled out before treated me for CRPS which is critical to be treated early on. Very disappointed in the care I received at Wake Med ED. Poor patient care and misdiagnosed which has not only maximized my short term health/life due to increased severity of symptoms of severe swelling/pain but also my long term health/life by delaying accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

The Wake Med billing department is impossible to get a hold of. We have called twice about a billing question, and they referred us to a different phone number than what is on the billing statement 4 times. It took us 30 minutes to finally get to the right person. This isnt a difficult ask. Billing should have a direct number published that is listed on the statement.

The medical staff was very rude and condescending we where there for 4 hours before my son finally got a Tylenol for the pain.he was crying from pain and we were put in a hall way in a recliner chair...the staff was not nice at all one woman came up to me reprimanded me in a very nasty tone to put a mask on basically throwing it at me and walked away and that was pretty much all the interaction we had from the staff in 4 hours of waiting!! before finaly finding out he did not fracture or break his arm....but the experience was very degrading and cold, seems like the people working there are absolutely miserable.they should get a different job if they hate their job/ working with people so much.
