I was told that my new dog was a puppy. Supposedly 6 months old. I have had him to my own vet to be checked over. During his visit to the vet it was determined that he had his permanent teeth and that there was tartar build up which happens over time. My vet estimated his age at 4-5 years of age. I called a representative at Key to Happiness Rescue. I told her about this. She disputed the information that my vet had stated. She said he might be 8 months to 1 year tops. My vet has over 30 years experience in her profession. The representative also said that the tartar build up could be from neglect of dental hygiene. My vet said that the tartar could only be build up over time. A young puppy would not have a tartar build up. This really frustrates me. Misrepresentation of a dog in my opinion. I am happy to have opened up my home to this sweet little dog. Just want people to know to beware. This organization does not evaluate the teeth to determine the age of the dogs that they have up for adoption.

I absolutely love the dog I adopted, but the staff I have interacted with have been rude and unresponsive to every single communication since I started this process, despite telling me many times to ask questions if I had them. They couldn't even be bother to respond on a dig call or size before I picked her up, let alone blowing off concerns I had about her health within the first few days of adoption. These are just a couple of the non-responsive issues I've had. It took almost 3 weeks to get a copy of the contract I signed and they refuse to explain why I still cannot register the microchip in my name, that was supposed to take 24hrs (it's been a month). I hate to leave a negative review, but these folks are incredibly frustrating to work with. I'm going to have to get the microchip removed and a new one done.

Great experience with the application and adoption process. Kari and Jenny are great, so helpful, and we love our puppy!

It really depends on the age of the dog. I would recommend contacting the rescue directly if you are wondering about a specific dog.
