Very nice place filled with history. Built in the 1920's, the halls are filled with photos and art from over the years. Even a photo of Clark Gable flying in to stay. The grounds are truly remarkable and the staff is even better. Room very comfortable and why anyone would stay anywhere else while traveling thru here makes no sense to me. The price is not that much more than a 1 star hotel along the Famous Route 101 Coastal Scenic Highway. Everything on this Scenic Route is expensive. So why not stay here in luxury for a little more and enjoy the finer things in life?

When we travel we like to stay at historic hotels that have character. We selected Benbow for that reason and we weren't disappointed. The hotel is filled with antiques and art that support its historic past. The sole reason for our trip was to see the coastal redwoods on the Avenue of the Giants. The hotel arranged a tour of the redwoods with Justin, a local naturalist and he was outstanding! He took us to areas that weren't crowded with tourists where we could enjoy the peacefulness and majesty of the forest. Justin was very informative and answered all of our questions about the plant life and history of the redwoods in this area. He also provided us with sources for additional reading. The tour with Justin was the highlight of our trip and we will be back for a follow-up.

Really nice hotel. Definitely a classic. We felt a little like we were in a game of Clue, with the library, lounge, etc. and the hotel's classic feel. The family enjoyed it. It's also super convenient to the Avenue of the Giants.

My mom worked here 18 years ago and wanted to share this historic jewel with me during my visit. It's quite unique, make sure to experience all of it..tea, scones, dinner, the bar and check out the ghost stories at the front desk. Our dinner was amazing, staff were friendly and this building is beautiful. You can even bring your pets.
