For the second time this year we had the blessing of having Community in Action help me with an issue I've been battling since I broke my hip and have had three back surgeries resulting in nerve damage. After breaking my hip I had problems with getting into and out of the bathtub without feeling like I might fall. This month Community in Action approved installing a walk-in shower for me and it looks fabulous. It was a process but I am safe now and forever grateful for their help. I have never dealt with a more compassionate organization. We had been dealing with a sewer line that kept plugging for the last three months in a house built in 1951 that we were informed when we bought the house 13 months ago had been replaced, that section collapsed and left us no way of using our bathroom, laundry or kitchen sink. Kathy M. was the lady I spoke with and she is truly an Angel. She helped me through the process every step of the way, explained the process, what was needed, all with compassion and courtacy. We live in a very large county and the grants and funding guidelines need to be followed so that the people that are in desperate need of this assistance get it first. They have online brochures that explain the guidelines and that there's a waiting list. Once the people with the biggest emergency is taken care of they will go down the list. They do the best they can with the funding they get, sometimes there are people that have things way worse than yourself, believe it or not. I have Weatherization that needs taken care of but am more than willing to be on a list, at least I have my sewer back and can eat at home again and not beg to use someone else's facility. Now the shower, I could not be more pleased with their organization. Getting around for me isn't easy and they just made it more manageable. GREAT group of people from my experience.

This 60 year old disabled Oragonean has gotten zero help. They have left me without propane, no help with winterizing or even rent.
