This is a big area. I took Kenedy trail in Los Gatos, hiked for 2 hours to mount el sombroso..from there the trail connects to mount Umunhum. It's 14.5 miles of fun. 29 miles if you do all the way to the summit and go back ( total time 12 hours at steady pace). Most of the trail is open, some few areas shaded. The only seatback ,there is no water fountains anywhere so I carried 3 liters but the optimal would be 4 to 5L.

But we weren’t sure where exactly the right trail? - we wanted to visit certain building the we’ve been seeing from all over the city. In the end we just drive all the way up! lol Anyway, we spent some time at the top observing beautiful scenery, reading information posts and plates etc Note, that internet hard to get over there! And you have to leave the place 30 minutes before the sunset! #AzulPreserve #AzulHiking #HikingBayArea #HikingCalifornia

Mtn bikes are allowed on the trails...Mt Umunhum, Barlow, Woods
Liability for the loss of a pet, even if at fault, would be minuscule compared to injury to persons. In my travels, usually dog bans are for one of three reasons: they can startle horses, they harass wildlife, or their owners leave pet mess, so my bet is that it’s one or more of those. It seems excessive to ban them from the cars, but my guess is it’s easier to enforce the ban that way.
Free parking in all 3 lots, no reservations.
There are multiple trails of different difficulties and lengths. You won't see much from driving, you'll want to park and walk around. Pictures are totally fine, take many. Dogs on leash are fine, just please clean up after them and don't leave their poop in the middle of the trail. These are mixed use trails shared with bikes so just be aware of that. Pedestrians have the right of way but that doesn't mean you won't get hit if a cyclist is being a jerk. Generally the bikers are polite and share the road.
Yes I believe so
