The new location for the Q Center is very open, comfortable, and functional. Laundry facilities, counseling, and friendly safe space for lgbtq youth

If you are not completely liberal and far left, they will not accept you. That's the kids I mean. A great place for adults, but for children unless you are a trender or SJW you can't go. I have been not let in multiple occasions for being "too late" as if a minute is far far too late... They don't have good parking and the kids are all too confused to know left from right. I am a trans man and as someone who is center left or possibly center right from a political standpoint. I am not accepted here, it is very cult-like in some ways or at least that's what I noticed with the "kids" (young teens). Say what you want, my opinion remains. I am in touch with someone who has done speeches/presentations and what not there. They no longer do it or associate with the q center for similar reasons as to mine. Frankly, it's a trucute heaven with each person having a different one of the 60-70-whatever ammount of genders there are. You are not allowed to express a different opinion without someone calling you internally transphopic or something ridiculous. But, as mentioned slightly before the adult education and adult meetings or really adult anything is much better, changing my mind from 1 star to 2 stars. I truly thought I had found a safe place with a support group I could go to through my transition but clearly I was very wrong. This may not be this way for you and that's ok. If you enjoy it, go ahead by all means. I'm just speaking from what I experienced and what I think based upon those experiences.

I had the most amazing experience volunteering with the Q last summer for Pride. It was SO successful, as the Q staff were able to come up with an AWESOME family-friendly area for Pride. The kids and families really enjoyed themselves and let me tell you it was pretty crowded the whole day. I saw parents smiling and sharing just as much joy in the experience as their children were. People from teeny tiny tot sizes to older teens and up stopped by and utilized every bit of the family-friendly area, and even hung around for hours. The committee was sure to find everything in the books to make sure everyone enjoyed their day - a bounce house, face painting, snacks, music, and more. Yea - I had heard about the Q center from my close friend, but hadn't had the chance to fully experience the group of wonderful individuals that serve for, or are served by, the Q until I volunteered with them for Pride! I fully understood the impact the Q had on all of these families, whether they recognized the importance or not, when I got to spend my day with these amazing people.

I don't believe it costs anything.
Just come in on a Tuesday (if you are 13-1) or Thursday (if you are 18-25)!
